funny story from our 37 week prenatal visit

A (my wife) was able to go with me because she had the day off. It was my 37(.5) week appointment and the midwife was going through the protocol for going in to the hospital and such. She had asked whether things were essentially ready for the baby. We said 'mostly.'

A then asked if we were cleared to have sex again since i have been on pelvic rest. The midwife responded that as soon as we were ready to have a baby, we could have sex.

A's response, without skipping a beat, "That sucks. It's like being straight."

Fabulous.

(Yes, the midwife acknowledged that the primary reason sex encourages labor is the sperm changing the cervix, but the oxytocin and the contraction of the orgasm apparently also play a part.)
