I apologize for this being so long.
My DD is 3.5 months old. We had a rocky start at breastfeeding. For the first few days she would only sleep on the breast. We then had to use a nipple shield because of a partially inverted nipple. We were able to wean ourselves off of the nipple shield. I then went back to work at 6 weeks. (I had very little milk stash when I went back). For 7 weeks, DD did a fabulous job using a bottle while I was gone and me while I was home with her. Then she got thrush and my milk supply decreased. All of a sudden she refuses to nurse off of me. The thrush is gone now and I am still working on increasing my supply. What is weird to me is the fact that she went 7 weeks of bottle to breast just fine and now all of a sudden she seems to get so frustrated that my milk isn't flowing any faster. She still nurses at 5:00 am just fine but during the day it just seems to be a battle.
I am a teacher and I am out for two weeks. Should I try to battle it out and get her back on the breast or become an exclusively pumping mom?
Thanks!
Re: Suddenly prefers bottles, please help!
What kind of bottles and nipples are you using? You should have the SLOWEST flow nipples there are. We use Avent bottles and the nipples have a "1" on them.
I would definitely keep trying, especially at the first morning feed, to get your LO to nurse. Also try to put her to the breast as often as possible, preferably before she's super hungry and frustrated.
