I'm always had scalp psoriasis issues that have gotten worse since I've had my baby. I wanted to try a Tea Tree shampoo (not the legit oils, just a shampoo). Google is saying that Tea Tree Oil may not be safe for nursing mothers, but I really couldn't find much info (and nothing about just a commercial shampoo). Does anyone use anything with Tea Tree Oil? I obviously don't want to do anything that would cause any issues for my son, but my scalp is horrible right now. (I've been to the doctor a million times for this; it's chronic and the things they prescribed are really harsh and can make it worse when you stop).
Re: Tea Tree Oil Shampoo?
I use tea tree everything- don't worry about it. There are warnings on many essential oils but I haven't found any solid research that they're dangerous.
I use tea tree oil shampoo, I use tea tree oil in LO's wipe solution, I use it in our humidifier, on my skin, etc. Just don't ingest it
Oh, if you're looking for a recommendation, I use Jason: https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/jason-tea-tree-scalp-normalizing-shampoo/ID=prod2560685-product It's awesome! I only have mild dandruff, so I don't use it every shampoo or it's a bit much for me, but you probably could use it exclusively.
That is just the response I was hoping for! I honestly couldn't see why it would be an issue because the research seems to be mostly about tea tree oil during pregnancy - and even then, there wasn't a ton of info out there.
And thanks for the suggestion! Don't worry, I won't drink my shampoo
