mucus plug vs. water breaking

So I could have sworn I lost my plug awhile back, but my water still has not broken. How long can your water hold out before it breaks? And I heard somewhere that your plug can reform, is this true?

    You can lose your MP weeks before going into labor, and yes, it can reform.

    The mucus plug and your water breaking do not always hand in hand. I was dilated  with a soft cervix and they had to break my water after I went into labor. 

    And yes, you can lose your MP and it can reform.

    Thanks ladies.  I was getting so impatient because I kept thinking, "well that happened... let's get this train moving!" But nada. So now that I know that, I will try to just chill and occupy my mind with other things. ;-) I just can't wait to meet this little one.... and be done with pregnancy for awhile. lol.

    Yeah, they broke my water for me last time. I was dilated, had terrible pelvic pain and still, she was a stinker that went three days past due. lol

    I lost my mucus plus at 37w6d, and my water didn't break until I was 39w0d with DD.
