So on Tuesday our nurse said we would most likely meet with the discharge specialist sometime next week, however she ended up meeting with us on Thursday. I though it was really early since Manuel is still in the Isolette and no one had even mentioned an estimated date for him leaving.
now it seems like things are moving very quickly and I just don't want to get my hopes up to high yet. He's done very well off of the Nasal Canula for more than 24 hours now, yesterday he had 3 breastfed meals only (no tube feeding), but only 2 today. He's had no bradys for 2 days now. All these little things just seem like huge milestones at the same time.
Manuel was born at 30 weeks and will be 1 month next week so I wonder if that is why we had the meetign at this time. I know he still has some more growing to do, but again was just wondering how long after your meeting was your LO released?

Re: how soon after meeting with discharge did you acutally leave NICU?
We met with the discharge nurse for the first time about a week before our little girl was released. It all went very quickly for us at the end. I think they were careful not to tell us an estimated release date so as to not get our hopes up until they knew for sure. I remember the nurse saying "we're waiting for the doctors to do rounds in order to confirm, but your baby is probably going home tomorrow". Just like that - boom. Baby home! I hope everything continues to go well for you and your little one
