I have had little dried bits of what I imagine was probably dried colostrum in the center of my nipples for a little while now. Nothing much and never really saw anything come out. This morning I woke up and I had these weird brownish splotches on the front of my shirt. I had no idea what it was and thought maybe my dog had drooled on my or something while I was sleeping cause I know she snuck on the bed at one point last night (don't ask...but St. Bernards get "stuff" in their drool and sometimes it is a brownish color when it dries).
Anyway, I was sitting here still kind of wondering and decided to check my breasts and low and behold, the left one has a big spot right in the center of the nipple the same color as the dried spots on my shirt! I leaked!!! The brownish color worried me at first, but I looked it up and apparently it is very common when the colostrum starts to come in for it to be tinged brown (rusty pipes, I believe they call it - there is a small amount of blood that mixes in, but generally clears up later). When I gently wiped away the brownish splotch, more came out (clear this time). Guess my body is really getting ready now.
So, that was new.
Re: Well, that was new....(colostrum)
Oh yeah I've had this leakage since about 26 weeks! Invest in some breast pads...you'll need them! I have to wear them 24/7 now (just started having to wear them at night too, yippee!). At least you know things are preparing!! :-)
