Does oral kill sperm?

So I've done every possible bit of research on this that is possible over the internet. Not much is said about it so I was wondering if you ladies could give me your opinions and thoughts on the subject. When me and my hubby are ready to BD I usually give him head to lubricate. I've seen that saliva can kill sperm but can it actually do enough damage to prevent pregnancy? I assume not all semen will die off....what are your thoughts on it?

I don't want to take the chance, plus I don't like doing it anyway, so we avoid that.

I am not sure of the exact day of conception on my two DDs, but I use foreplay as a way to get my DH going almost every time. I would imagine that there have been babies conceived after daddy was given head. Just saying.

If you are worried maybe you could just pick up some sperm friendly lube like preseed and use that instead of giving oral.

Yes I wouldn't use saliva as your main source of lube, but I don't think a little foreplay will hurt either.

I specifically asked my doctor this last week and she said that nothing she has ever read/learned has said that saliva kills sperm. Her exact words were "That's not true" I wish I can show the face she made, lol I googled it even after leaving her office, and found a lot of boards/articles saying that it may be true, but after I asked my doctor, I don't know. My DH and I like oral as a part of our sex life so to be honest I'm not going to stop. Like PP said, I'm sure many babies have been born and their parents engaged in oral during the sex when they conceived, I think if it's something you and your husband enjoy then keep going, or maybe next time you see your doctor ask, just to get that other opinion.

I don't think saliva kills sperm, it's just not friendly to swim through, if I remember right. I doubt you'll slob enough to make a huge difference..

Well lube requires another ballpark. You have to look for sperm friendly lube then. I've had one pregnancy it just ended in an early miscarriage. I was just wondering if it was enough to cause concern, I know you can still get pregnant even if you do give head.

This is the on going question in our bedroom. DH says he would bet money that thousands of babies are born after oral...I say let's not chance it. Preseed is a sperm friendly lube. We've been using it, but really don't like it.

I bet the oral does kill the pre-ejaculate but as for the main-event ejaculate? That comes out at a pretty fast speed so even if there is some saliva still in his urethra I bet it gets "moved out of the way." I think you're okay.

I've read the same things on the internet, but I think they mean if you use saliva as your main form of lubrication it may inhibit some sperm. But even then, unless your DH has a low sperm count, it probably won't hurt enough to ruin your chances. As foreplay, I would assume most it, if not all the saliva will be gone by the time he ejaculates just from BD. Personally, I think if that what keeps you guys in the mood, go for it. As other posters have said, I can guarantee, people have done it before and gotten a BFP. If you're worried, perhaps as the others suggested try preseed. I haven't tried it yet, but some people swear by it.

It's interesting to me that saliva kills sperm since it is alkaline.
