I am confused. LO was born on Friday the 23rd, so every Friday I'm like "shes 12 weeks" etc... So if she is 12 weeks today, because it has been 12 Fridays, doesn't that equal three months? I dont understand my ticker. I feel dumb.
we covered this confusion when we were pregnant. 1 month does not equal 4 weeks. if it did, we would have 13 months in a year. therefore, if you count 4 weeks as a month, you would be celebrating the 1st year a month early. you change months on the date of the month.

You dont have to be perfect to know that a month is more than 28 days. This gets asked way too often and puzzles me every time. Right along with being pregnant for ten months.

7 days a week X 4 weeks = 28 days
Basic math and basic knowledge of the calendar months is not complicated.
don't be snarky. I wasn't thinking "28 days isn't a month" I was just thinking typically 4 weeks is a month.
but I don't think you really do. When you say there is 1 month until Christmas, do you count back 4 weeks or do you say that on Nov 25. For some reason, this all changes when talking about pregnancy and baby's age, and I don't understand it. (and it's not just you..TRUST ME. People do it all the time.) And since there's only 1 month that typically has 4 weeks, the rest have extra days, which doesn't seem like a lot, but they add up to 4 more weeks. It's already added up to quite a bit. ds is about to be 16 weeks but won't be 4 months until after Christmas.

DD is 16 weeks today and will not be 4 months until after Christmas. Lots of people think 4 weeks equals 1 month, but I am not really sure why they think this.
I had to explain this to DH over the weekend. He thought our LO turns 4 months Christmas Day because he will be 16 weeks. I had to explain that he will be 16 weeks on Christmas but not 4 months until January 4th. He looked confused and I said he turns a week older every Sunday but is a new month on the 4th of every month because not every month has 4 weeks. Then I saw the lightbulb go off. I guess it's a pretty common misunderstanding.
Re: Um so how old is my baby?
Oh... just... wow.
My thoughts exactly.
Be nice ladies. We aren't here to judge. Not everyone is perfect like you ladies might be!
Not saying I'm perfect by any means... but the concept of months/weeks is not complicated. At all.

Oh my, I'm tired of explaining this to people, I don't even try any more. Just let them live in ignorant bliss.
