yet another back labor ?

On and off, all day, my lower back tightens up  and then releases about a minute later. Not truely painful, but damned if they are uncomfortable. Took some tylenol this morning to keep the discomfort down.  They arent timeable just annoying as hell.

Back contractions? Back labor? Yes or no?

Re: yet another back labor ?

  • Unless they're timetable, it isn't contractions.  I don't know any better, but it may be a form of Braxton Hicks if they aren't too bad.  Or it could just be a bad back.

There is a spot on our backs between the tailbone and the small of the back that it feels really good to have someone put lots of pressure on.  Have them make a fist and press into that spot while kneading in a circle.  It make take some trial and error to find the spot, but for me it feels wonderful when DH presses on it as hard as he can.

  • Braxton hicks are contractions, they just aren't active labor contractions. I've been having very similar back pain - it feels like back spasms. I don't know if it's considered back labor or not, but I assume it's connected to the contractions I've been feeling in the front as well. My mid-wife says it's completely normal and can have up to 6 contractions an hour every hour without considering it active labor. I agree that pressure, from a fist or tennis ball, feels great!
