Can you make chard chips? Kinda like the kale ones I saw a recipe for somewhere...wish I could remember where. Olive oil and salt or whatever seasonings and then like 350 in the oven.
I'm not a huge chard fan, so if it were me, I'd smother it in some kind of super fatty gratin so that it tasted like cream/cheese and not like chard. And since I'm not a huge chard fan, I can't say I have any good chard recipes to share. I love kale, I love escarole, but chard has never quite done it for me.
ANYWAY, I do read Smitten Kitchen regularly, and I've noticed SHE likes chard, so here -- see if any of these float your boat:
Married my wife 8/2007 ~ TTC #1 since 7/2011 9 IUIs = 9 BFNs IVF October 2012: 22 eggs retrieved, 17 fertilized, 5 frozen ET #1: 1 blast = BFP; Blighted ovum discovered at 7w5d; D&E FET #1: 1 blast = BFP; Missed m/c discovered at 9w5d; D&E Karyotyping: normal ~ RPL Testing: normal ~ Hysteroscopy: normal FET #2: 1 blast transferred 10/25; BFP 10/31! EDD 7/13/14 ~ Induced at 37w4d due to pre-eclampsia ~ Born on 6/28/14 *Everyone welcome*
Rinse and chop up like spinach. In a large fry pan add butter and olive oil and saute diced onion and minced garlic. When onion is some color to it add the chard and saute like you would spinach, salt and pepper to taste. Depending on how you like it, you can just wilt the chard or you can cook it so that it too has some color to it. I like it to have some color because it gives the chard a nuttiness. Remember that a BIG bag will not make a lot of cooked chard. :0
Thank you! I think I will make a white bean/tomato/chard soup, and also do some sauteeing. I like it better than kale, so I'm hoping this is something I can swap in regularly and ease up a bit on my spinach habit

this is what i do - then serve it with/over lightly buttered egg noodles
i take it, wash it and dry it. cut it up and saute it FAST with some oil, garlic and salt. it takes no more than ten minutes from washing to eating and it's FABULOUS!
