Group Strep B

I'm positive, anyone else?  I'm just worried that I won't know when my water breaks.  I'll be checking like crazy. I currently have a lot of discharge.. I'll just be looking for more.

Re: Group Strep B

  • Don't know yet about Strep, I was just tested yesterday. But I wanted to share that there was no mistaking when my water broke! It wasn't a huge gush like in the movies, but several smaller gushes. I'm sure you'll know!

  • I was positive with my first two.  With my first my water broke before contractions started and like PP said there was no mistaking it.  I even missed the gush because it happened when I was going to the bathroom but over the course of the next 15 minutes or so I soaked 3 pairs of underpants and then water just kept coming down my leg.  Don't stress too much about it.  If you don't get there right away, there will most likely be plenty of time to give you the antibiotics you need.

  • I was positive with #4 and I arrived at hospital having contractions every 4 minutes (we left house at 7 mins apart) and I was 8cm upon arrival.  by the time they were done getting me settled in the LDR room I was 10cm so no time for antibiotic.  She is a healthy 4 year old little girl.  So even if you do miss something don't worry it's only a chance.

On the water breaking, my water has broken 2 our of 4 deliveries..and I immediately knew what it was and both times there were multiple gushes over a period of time.

    Good luck.  :)

  • I tested positive for it this time, didn't last time though. My doctor really stressed to me its not a big deal just said not to waste time when I start labor and to go straight to the hospital, luckily I only live maybe 5 mins away. But I already have to go straight in anyway because I had a PPH with my first son and have to have more meds to try and prevent that from happening again, I'm way more worried about that then the group strep b. don't stress, you'll know when it happens.

  • I have my test this week but I was positive last time. I was induced at 42 weeks last time, so there was definitely enough time to get the antibiotics going. After they began my induction I had her so quickly that they said I needed to get in at the FIRST sign of labor next time.
