Lazy Baby

Does anyone ever have days where LO is just being lazy?  I feel him moving but not as strong as most days.  Is it true that when you are close to labor that movement decreases a bit?
Wife to K 07/31/2009, Mommy to L 08/26/2010 and received his angel wings on 04/12/2011, our precious RAINBOW baby B 12/23/2011 and due with another miracle June 2015!

Re: Lazy Baby

  • Yup my LO will have a lazy time here and there but she's still pretty active at almost 35 weeks. The movement will decrease now and you will feel less of real kicks and more of just squirming around as the babies simply run out of room to do much of anything else. Not sure if it is a sign of labor to come, I always hear it's mostly b/c they simply get so cramped in there that they just chill more.

  • I definitely have a lazy baby.  He goes through lots of sleeping periods.  I have learned his patterns so I know what to expect.

  • My baby definitely has his lazy days. Yesterday was one of them. They are usually in a pattern too. It is like once every 3 days he will just have a chill day.
  • Oh, I am learning to treasure her lazy days. Normally it feels like she is trying to kick her way to freedom!! LOL

  • My LO likes to face my spine so I don't feel many kicks or punches when she does that just because of the position she's in.  She definately has her quiet times and her active times.

  • I don't have days where he's lazy, more like a few hours. But he makes up for it. Most of the time it feels like he's trying to find his way out through my belly button.

And as PP's said, the movement hasn't necessarily decreased, but more changed. He doesn't have room to do much more than wiggle, attempt to stretch, and squirm.

  • Yes, it's true that movement decreases a bit before labor but it's not always a super noticeable decrease.  And it's certainly not something I'd be thinking about at 34 weeks :)

DD didn't really slow her movement until a week or so before she was born, and she was born 4 days past her due date.

This baby is still super active. Infact he's more active than I remember DD being.  So it's also true that activity levels can vary quite a bit between babies.
