Anyone with huge boobs in the first place want to dish out some info? I normally wear a 38D, but obviously with BF these things are going to get huge. I'm reluctant to spend $35 on one bra without some research/advice. I've looked on Amazon, BRU, and E-Bay...
What is your favorite nursing bra? Did you get an under wire for extra support? Do you always wear a sleep nursing bra too? I hear that it helps prevent sagging...but who knows on that one. Any recommendations to for an inexpensive bra?
Re: Nursing Bras & Sleeping Bras--Help??
I've been wearing Motherhood's nursing sports bras in a 3X (I'm a 40 DD/DDD) since I was 5 weeks pg. My breasts were so tender the first tri that I had to have a bra on at all times. Since then they've been so heavy that it's just more comfortable to sleep in one. I'm now starting to out grow the 3X bras and they don't have a larger size so after Christmas I'm going to a local specality bra shop to pick up a couple of sleep bras. I'm not sure what brands they carry but they said the sleep bras range from about $34-50.
The shop told me to wait on nursing bras until 2 weeks pp because after baby is born my band size will go down but my cup size will go up. Waiting 2 weeks allows your breasts to somewhat regulate in size and gets you past the engorgement peroid.
Underwire bras are not recommended, espically at first, because the wires can put pressure on the milk ducts causing a blockage and possibly leading to mastitis (infection of the breast).
I know that Lane Bryant carries two Bravado bras that they can order (they don't carry them in store). You could go there and get measured, order the bras and if they don't fit, return them.
If you're planning on breast feeding awhile it's probably a good idea to spend some $$ on a couple (maybe 2-3) good quality nursing bras. You're going to be wearing them everyday for months so you'll want something that will stand up to lots of wear and washing.
I'm planning to get this Bravado bra to sleep in. I would recommend going to a nursing store to get fitted. (I went to a nursing store at my local hospital)

I'm a 40 f right now. I wear the heck out of my gilligan and o'malley (target) sleep bras. They are super comfy, and only $22 for a two pack.
Ditto on pp. I was told to wait until 2 weeks after birth to measure for nursing bras, so until then I'm totally fine with sleep bras, and my other bras. GL
Definitely don't buy anything until pp. A good bra is worth the money too!
If you have an improper fitting bra it can cause clogged milk ducts, which are no fun. Also, you will want to wear a bra at night. I HATE wearing a bra at night but I've already learned my lesson that it is just not doable. I either get a clogged duct or my milk won't come out (when pumping).
