Hi hi!
Alex has a Leaspster and he likes to play it, but lately he's been asking for a Nintendo DS. He also plays all the time on my iPod touch, mostly angry birds, lol.
Honestly I don't really want him doing video games all teh time but he's already doing the iPod a lot, so wondering... what do you think about the Nintendo DS? I know almost every kid at my school has one, but I am totally stupid about video games, etc. Is it like a fancy Leapster? I see there are games for it, ones he'd like such as I Spy, etc. Would it last him for a while? I seem to think so b.c I have 4th and 5th graders who play their DS still.
Best placy to buy it?!?
Thoughts?!?!
TIA!
Re: Moms of older kids: Nintendo DS?
I don't have an older kid or a DS...but I kinda want one. I do remember my gameboy fondly and that was well into my 20s....gotta love Dr. Mario!
It will definitely last him...it is basically a portable gaming system. You'll just set limits on length of time playing, when, where and which games, etc.
Price shop TRU, the gaming stores, BB & Amazon. Also, see if TRU is having any buy 2, get 1 free deals on games so you can get him a few.
The only negative thing I've heard from friends with kids that have them is the same thing about kiddos with iPods.....they need to remember to be gentle with them so they don't break.
Sweet...I'm totally borrowing Alex's DS!
My Daughter Got Her fro her 5th Birthday & had games like, dora, princess, learning game for it, Also had the sky game, Mario Brothers, She loves it & She is 8 now & Still plays with it, I have one & play it all the time when we are on the plane or long drives.
So yes it would be a Great thing for him to have.

DH has one and lets G play it. We set limits on it, so that works for us. As long as my kid doesnt turn into a kid who needs his DS with him at aplaydate or out at a restaurant, then I am cool with it sometimes.

I am trying to keep video games out of our home, and Ds hands for as long as possible. I personally think kids get them too young, and it depends on the kid and how they will react to it (how often they want to use it) . I still love that D plays with toy toys and I don't want to to move on just yet. He also play angry birds but since it is not HIS device it's been easy to limit time.
