Ultrasound question

in 2nd Trimester

I had an appointment yesterday and I convinced the Dr. to let us do an ultrasound before Christimas in hopes to find out what we were having.  She would not give us a 100% on the gender but there was definitely something between the legs.

Can I take this as a for sure or can girls sometimes look the same at this point?!? I really want to tell our family on Christmas morning. I mean when I first saw it (and I am no pro) I thought oh yeah that is a boy.

    Do you have a potty shot you can upload?? All babies have "something" between the legs.. it's just either girl somethings or boy somethings. Really big somethings usually mean a boy this far along, but a picture would help!!

    Unfortunately I don't. Since it was a last minute request the Dr. didn't print out any pics. There is more than the 3 lines. It is like a little lump there. Baby was all over the place so we saw this same thing multiple times in different angles.

    you will see 2-3 lines in the umbilical cord (the blood vessels that are inside the cord) I kept seeing those, and automatically thought girl... until we got a clear money shot of male parts...

    At 17 weeks I believe there are definite girl or boy parts.  If she says she saw something between the legs I would guess boy but who knows unless she actually said what she saw.  Why didn't she just say she thought it was a boy or a girl?

    She definitely said that she thinks that it is a boy but she didn't want to get me too excited and then it not be. I think she was trying to be safe. She said many times that the thought boy.

    If it helps, we were told boy with DS at 16.3... but to keep our receipts. I think that same advice would apply to you. : )

    Ok, this makes more sense.  I can see that she doesn't want to say 100% when there is room for error.  I thought she didn't say either way and left you to interpret by saying there is something between the legs!  Haha.
