H's Christmas gift?

DH & I haven't exchanged gifts since the first year we dated. You know shared money and all didn't really see the point. This year I bought a few pairs of boxers, wrapped and put them in his stocking. He freaked out about us exchanging gifts. As in, he was really excited, so we are. I bought him a new black wool pea coat and I'm sewing him a huge cuddly blanket. He always complains that I've never made him anything, but I'm always making stuff for other people.

What are you girls getting your SO's for Christmas? Gifts? Night out without the LO's? Just yourself wrapped in a big black lace bow? (yeh I'm talking to you Marsam)

Re: H's Christmas gift?

  • Last year we decided to just get one big item for us or the house, last year was a laptop, this year will probably be a new stove.

However, this year we're each in charge of a gift from LO.  H hates buying gifts but he usually does a good job and goes way overboard, good for me!  I just got him pair of Croc shoes that he almost bought multiple times.  Good thing for me they had a buy one get one free so I also got a pair for myself too!  :)

  • He is getting some books and video games that he wants.  He keeps an amazon wishlist so he can remember the things he wants and when they come out.  It also makes it really easy to get things for him.

We both maintain Amazon lists throughout the year. I used to only do a Christmas list, but I'd forget everything I wanted by the time people would ask. Now I just keep it all on Amazon and my family knows where to look.

H will be getting a couple video games, some CDs, and a couple other random things. I always buy him boxers because he refuses to buy them for himself.

Good idea! I should have H do that! He doesn't play video games, but he loves to read, woodwork, fish & hunt. He has tons of hobbies, but whenever his bday and Christmas roll around he can never think of anything he wants. Drives both our parents crazy.

  • It is really convenient.  I use it for his birthday and Christmas, and when people ask me what to get him I point them there.  I used to try to keep track of everything he wanted and it was a big pain.

  • I found a tiny handheld dremel with some screwdriver attachments, which is his main gift. He's wanted a small electric screwdriver to work on his computers for forever.

I also got him a book on Kindle, 100 whiskies to try before you die. He's getting a few small bottles of liquor, a deck of cards, a toothbrush, some goldfis crackers and an orange in his stocking, most of which is tradition. Plus candy... I hunted down york peppermint pieces, plus probably snickers and some candy canes.

  • As I was wrapping I realized I got DH way more stuff than JT. We set a small budget this year (200) but I went slightly over.

I got him a portable DVD player (thanks ladies), Timberland boots, white t-shirts and tank tops (he goes through them like no one's business), Dunkin Donuts coffee and gift cards, a DVD, lots of socks, pj pants, hand soap and body scrub from Bath Body Works - the aromatherapy ones...guess I stress him out, and not sure what other little things.

He was all annoyed when he saw his stocking was full...cause now that means he needs to fill mine! Oh well buddy - get shopping :)
