My DD2 won't take a bottle, obviously because we have hardly given her one since she was born. With two babies, I simply do not get time away from her. She won't take it from me, likely because she wants it straight from the boob, and DH has zero patience to deal with it (it just ends up being a huge disaster, there`s no point pushing the issue). So today some friends of mine (other moms) are coming over to try giving her some EBM. Then we are going to my ILs for Christmas so I plan to get my MIL to try a few times more and by then hopefully DH will be able to take over.
Anyhow, my friends insisted today that I give her fresh, not frozen BM and they seem pretty convinced the Lipase will bother her. Last night I read up on the subject a bit, but I'm a little skeptical this is the problem. My older DD took frozen BM with no problem so I'm wondering when lipase is a problem is the issue with the milk itself, or the baby's taste?
I know, I know, every baby is different, but does anyone have personal experience with this? Where one baby would take frozen BM and another would not? My diet has not changed in the past 3 yrs....
Re: S/O Excess Lipase...second baby
It's probably a bottle issue, not a milk issue. Neither of my girls would take a bottle after they were 2 months old. I SAH, and with DD #1, I tried everything under the sun to get her to take one. She never did, and it drove me nuts. With my second, I've never pushed it. It's not worth the battle to me.
You can try fresh bm and see what happens. GL!
I also had an excess lipase issue. LO would take bottles of fresh milk but nothing that was more than a day old, regardless of who was giving him the bottle.
