gender neutral

What items did you buy/get gender neutral?

We got high chair, stroller/carseat/carrier, pack and play, swing, bouncer, activity bouncer thing. All gender neutral. The bedding/ room decor, clothes and activity mat were the only things we bought/got that were girly.

I brought this up because I was just looking around at baby stuff, like i always do when Im bored and relaxing and I saw that carters now makes jungle jill (bedding/room theme) high chairs, bassinet, pack and play, bouncer and swing all to match. I text my mom immediately and her response was, yes but you wanted gender neutral...She's right I did and still do...but sooo darn cute!

Re: gender neutral

  • Since we'd like to have more kids, we got all the big stuff in gender neutral colors. Our pack and play, car seat, bouncer, and swing are all various tones of green. Also, since we hate to paint, we painted the nursery yellow so we won't have to change the color for the next little one.

  • I HATE pink so there was no way I was buying pink stuff for this LO.  I hate pink so much that her room is going to have a natutical/monkey theme (lots of blues, sage green, cream, brown, boats, palm trees and monkeys.)

We're planning on having a second child so it just makes sense to buy all the big ticket items in gender neutral prints/colors.

  • EVERYTHING. But we are team green lol. I would have done the same thing as you though (big reusable items gender neutral; bedding, etc. gender specific). I am sick of not being able to buy cute clothes though... I wanna know who this baby is!

  • This is the first grandchild on both sides. Plus, there have only been 2 girls born into DH's large family in 30 years. Sooooooo people kinda went crazy on the pink. Not complaining, though... they will be just as excited if we have a boy in a couple years! LOL

  • Like PP, I am not a big fan of pink and do not find it necessary to make sure that everything screams girl. I find it tacky IMO when EVERYTHING is either pink or purple. Why stereotype your kid from the get go? I know, some people just get excited about getting to use pink. I am just not one of them.

So for gender neutral stuff, pretty much everything besides her clothes, bedding(polkadot theme) and a few accessories(okay, she has an adorable bubblegum pink shag rug and a pink hamper) are neutral. Strollers, car seat, carrier, high chair, swing, bouncer, diaper bag, are all gender neutral. I probably won't have another one for a few years and everything will probably be out of date and not up to the current code then, but I also figure I'll have an easier time reselling or giving away my stuff if it's neutral.

  • Everything! Our house is decorated mainly in greens, yellows, and browns so it made sense from that perspective. Plus, we don't know if we are having a boy or a girl.

  • We are having a boy, but everything other than his clothing and the swaddling blankets are gender neutral.  For wraps/carriers I picked colors I liked and that complemented my skin tone.  For changing pad covers and the bouncy chair I went with colors that matched our decor.  For the car seat I went with brown, figuring that it would hide dirt well.

  • Everything except for the PnP is gender neutral (DH's decision to go pink and flowery with this). The bedding might be a bit girly with the flowers, but it's mostly yellow and gray, so a boy could use it. Even a lot of the clothes we have are gender neutral.

  • I'd use pretty much anything with #2 whether it's a girl or boy.  The pack n play is brown and blue, but has a polka dotty pattern on it.  Plus I hate girly stuff.
