If you BF or pump...

Whats the longest amount of sleep you've ever gotten without waking up?

I've been EPing and the longest I've let myself go between pumps is 4 hours. I am trying to get DD back on the breast so I have a feeling I will have to be up even more often for a little while.

Trying to get an idea of when I might get a real nights sleep again...for me, I'd consider that to be 6 hours straight.

  • I went last night from 11-5:30  I was very full but the sleep was great!

  • I don't know if this will ultimately screw with my supply, but at about week 3 or 4 I dropped my 1 am pump (DS gets up about every 4 hours to eat - I EP).  So, I go from about 9:30 (he eats at 9:00) to about 5:30.  I still get up at 1 am to feed (except on weekends when DH takes that feeding - it's heavenly!) but because I don't have to pump, I can usually get back to bed relatively quickly.

  • DD generally sleeps for 6-7 hours straight (10 pm to 5 am).  We're ebf and at first when she started doing this I was worried about my supply, but she's been doing this for several weeks and my supply still seems to be on the high side.

DS on the other hand never slept longer than 3-4 hours at a time until he was over a year old.

  • For about the last 2-3 weeks LO will go 6-7 hours during the first stretch at night. Sometimes she wakes up sooner but supply is still great. Seem to have plenty of milk whenever she does wake up at night and I'm still usually able to pump 6-8 oz after our first morning feed.
  • By the time DD was about 3-4 weeks old she was sleeping a 5 hour stretch and it has gradually increased since then.  On average she goes at least 7 hours now, if not 8-9 hours and has even done 10 hours once!    I do believe she is an exception when it comes to LO's and sleeping.  My first baby didn't sleep more than 5 hours till he was about 8-9 months old.  I BF and do not wake up to pump or anything when she sleeps.  Initially when she started sleeping longer I would wake up fairly uncomfortable because I was so full but I just stuck it out and eventually my body has learned it doesn't need to make as much milk at night.

  • The longest LO has slept so far was 5 hours, a handful of times. But 4-4 1/2 hours for the first nighttime stretch is more normal so far.
