Hypnobabies Moms

Do any of you have the home study book?  I did a live class with Luke, so I don't have all the scripts and whatnot that the teacher had.  I need a refresher on creating the center switch and it's not in my book.  If you've still got your home study book could I borrow it?

Re: Hypnobabies Moms

  • I have the Hypnobirthing book by Marie Mongan. Is that the same thing? If so, you're welcome to borrow it. I'll need to use it to brush up, but not for a while Stick out tongue

  • Thank you, but unfortunately they're not exactly the same thing.  Hypnobabies does an "eyes open" method of hypnosis and Hypnobirthing doesn't.  The eyes open part is related to the whole center switch thing, which is what I need.  Thanks though!
  • OK, sorry I couldn't help!

I hadn't realized that there were two totally different philosophies. What made you pick hypnobabies over hypnobirthing? What are some of the other differences?

I did all my research over three years ago, so I may be remembering incorrectly.  But the "eyes open" technique is the main difference and unique to Hypnobabies.  It means you can be up walking (with support), on a birthing ball or moving around to get more comfortable all the while staying relaxed and still under self-hypnosis.

The funny part is I didn't practice the moving around bit so I ended up laboring in bed most of the time.  This time I want to work on it more so I can utilize gravity to help move the baby down.  Luke never, ever dropped and it took me 2.5 hrs of pushing to get him out.  I definitely don't want to do that again.

  • Interesting! Thanks! I've got a lot of research to do...
  • That is interesting. I didn't do research-just went straight for hypnobirthing. I did want to say, though, that I walked, spent LOTS of time on the birthing ball, hands and knees, in the shower, talked to people when necessary, and was still able to remain very, very relaxed and in the state of hypnosis they described. So I think it's possible with either one.

Good luke using your techniques Mrs.Froggianna! I hope you have a short and easy labor and definitely not hours of pushing!
