It's just so hard right now. She is always distracted. Even if I go into a dark quiet room which is hard with DD1 (26 months old).
The worst is at night... she NEVER seems interested in nursing before bed. I don't know if it's my supply or what. Like today- the last time she nursed was 3:30 and I still can't get her to nurse. She had solids at 5. I know she's hungry. I just don't know what to do. I've tried stopping solids at night time, doesn't change anything- she just gets fussier earlier.
I'm not even sure what I'm looking for.... I'm just having a hard time.
Re: I'm this close to quitting - DD is 6 months old
I'm sorry you're having a rough time
Try to stick with it for a few more days. LOs go throw phases all the time and they never last long. It will get better soon. Never quit on a bad day.
Thanks ladies. I won't quit just because I know I could never just stop on a whim but it's been hard
It's just so hard to see her fight me so hard when I KNOW she's hungry.
I'm not opposed to supplementing so when she gets really bad we just give her a bottle of expressed milk or some formula if I don't have any and I continue pumping. I've also added an extra pumping session right before I have to go to bed to help with supply & to have some extra.
I'm hoping it's just a phase. It seems every time I've been to the end of my rope the phase passes so I'm hoping that is the case this time.
This is when I started supplementing and for the same reason. She would just never want to nurse even in a quiet space. I wish I never started because I feel like I cheated her because I was frustrated. I had a great supply, no issues. I just gave up on daytime feedings.
It was definitely a phase but then she got used to the bottle, so she would go days without nursing and I just gave up. Luckily, after I switched to the sippy (which you could use instead of a bottle) she started nursing a ton and now nurses 3x a day.
I know not to do that with the next one. I will just only feed her when she shows interest and make sure I get up at night with her to feed if she needs it since that was the best nursing time.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
Luckily I haven't had to supplement during the day. She's distracted but she keeps does get her nursing in eventually. It's that LAST feeding before bedtime that's the awful one.
She does get up most nights to eat between 2 and 4 and I know she gets a ton of breastmilk then because she drinks like a champ.
I'm glad to hear that your DC went back to nursing
