  • How much does it hold? Could I realistically fit a 5D, 24mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 580 EX + batteries, cards, etc. in there? I can't really tell from their pictures what's inside it, but I really want a nicer bag for my gear!

  • they would probably say yes but i say *maybe*.  i keep my D700 with 50 on, 70-200 and 24-70 in it but there is no room for the speedlite with that gear imo, so i throw one on top which is of course not a great idea.  IF you were going to stack your lenses, you could b/c my 70-200 is a beast.

honestly its more of a 'fun' bag to me than utilitarian.  others might feel differently!

  • Thanks Mollie! I think I'm going to pass on it - I really need something that I can haul all my gear in...and hopefully I'll be adding a lens or two to my collection next year! :)
  • i had a crumpler (the one that was stolen) and i really liked it.  even though it's not a 'looker' it was very utilitarian and i'll probably go that route again.  i have a roller suitcase for all of my gear (for weddings etc) and only use the bag for portraits.
  • Thanks Mollie! I really want to see a crumpler in person before buying. Right now I have a tamrac backpack that I've had forever and I hate it. I've had to replace two lenses because I'm an idiot and didn't zip it but thought it was zipped when I picked it up. Watching your two-week-old 85L go bouncing through the parking lot might make you vomit, just FYI Tongue Tied I'm anal about making sure it's zipped now though, lol.
  • i've got a crumpler 7mil (gray outside/red inside) that I'd be willing to sell you if you wanted it!  you're welcome to come look at it and put all your stuff in it if you want.  it'd definitely hold all of that.

i've only used it for our africa trip last summer, so 2 weeks.  it held:

7D w/ 24-70, 100-400L, 580 EXII, Rebel w/ 18-50, and a crappy tamron zoom, plus my laptop, chargers, cards.  it weighed about 50 lbs at that point, but it did a great job of protecting everything for me!
