enough with the lists!

I can't stand when people ask me for a list of what I want for Christmas!! I was asked today for a list, that's where my previous post came in. I wanted to see what others have on their lists because I am clearly incapable of making my own. I always feel like i am saying "go out and buy this for me" which makes it so much less thoughtful because you are just telling people what to buy you. I never ask for lists and I can always find things to buy for people.

okay, rant over.

Re: enough with the lists!

  • I like having lists, even for my closest family members. I also make one myself, because it's always asked for. If I dont tell people what I would like, then they have no way of knowing.

  • I hate asking people for lists, but with a few of my family i have to because I just dont KNOW what they may want. My hubby, I get a list from him because what he wants or is thinking of is always to specific. he like photography stuff.... For dad, I am always afraid I will get him something he already has, so i gte a basics list from Step mom.

  • I hate coming up with a list for myself too.  I am referring people to the things that are still on our registry and then I will finish shopping for baby after that is done with.
  • I love lists when I am buying presents for others, but I find it hard to make one for myself. I still do it (even though DH is the only one that buys for me) so I can make his life easier!

  • This year, all I am asking for is help. Help cleaning, reaching, getting some adult conversation.  It is super hard because I am not one to ask for help normally, so hopefully my family will handle it well... so far, not so much....

  • I'm not a fan of lists either, but with DH's family we have to give one, otherwise we end up with things like a box of mismatched random ceramic elephants. I don't particlarily like elephants, don't think I've even said the word around DH's grandma, but somehow she thought it was perfect for me. Oh and did I mention that just in general I hate most knicknacky type things that clutter up the house? So yeah, a list helps. We try to make it fairly long, like 10 plus items and tell them to just pick one or two things off of it, so that way they have options to shop for and its still a surprise since we don't know exactly what they picked out.

  • I completely agree. I was called out by my MIL because I was baffled when she asked what I want in my stocking. We are grown adults for one, and for another, my family never asked what we wanted in our stocking. They just found stocking stuffers and candy and filled the stocking up.

That said, I just don't care about Christmas much this year. I just want my baby to arrive darnit!
