A gazzilion city moms use the Bug, so there must be something to it. But with my 2 kids I was perfectly happy with the snap n go and a Maclaren Quest. In fact with my second i hardly used the snap n go at all. I just used the Moby Wrap most of the time when he was a newborn, and then switched to the Maclaren at about 6 months. And I used the Ergo carrier a lot with both.
I guess the Bug is easy to maneuver when you're walking (which you do a lot), but I thought the Maclaren and the carriers made handling public transportation much easier.
I looked at all the stroller and finally decided on the icandy peach. Its the bugaboo of Europe and have recently started selling in the US. I purchased mine from Schneider's baby but I'm sure you can go on there website and see if it is sold anywhere else in ny.
It is perfect because it is big enough to take on the sidewalks but sleeker that the other big strollers like bugaboo and uppa baby. The best part is that you can add a second seat. I would check it out.
I am perfectly happy with the Bug Cameleon. I am fortunate to live at a subway station with elevator so I have to carry it seldom. Believe me, there are much heavier strollers than this one. Your choice should lay in how you are using it. Mostly walks? Carry up and down subways all the time? How about your home? Can you leave it downstairs or do you have to carry it up a few flights?
Either way, I would get the most sturdiest you can afford, it's worth it! You don't wanna be stuck on the street in the rain or snow with a broken stroller.
For us, we used the snap-n-go and the Maclaren. I also have a Bob, which is great for jogging, but too big and bulky for everyday subway/bus use. LOVE the Maclaren.
NO to the Snap N Go! A car seat is for car safety, not seating for the baby. It's not safe for their breathing for long periods of time and it is way too warm. I say the Cameleon (though like PP said, the iCandy is awesome too). I'm between NY and NJ. I ordered everything at a store by my NJ house called NessaLeeBaby and then shipped it to me in NY and I paid no sales tax, got free shipping and because I registered there they gave me a gift card to the store for $100. I think you'll be really happy with the Bugaboo and the bassinet option is key.
the icandy peach was our favorite. But we also really liked the uppababy vista, and since we could buy two vistas for the price of one peach, especially when you consider things like bassinets, we decided to go with the vista. We went to Galt baby and compared all the strollers side by side and that made it easy for us to narrow down to just the peach and vista. Then we had to do our research and decided if the price difference was worth it-- we did look around to see if we could find a used peach, but couldn't. They are also not sold where we live. I do worry that I will regret the vista not being as narrow as the peach, but I also know that if really don't like the vista I can resell it on craigslist and then invest in a peach. Plus I only live in a midsized city, so it isn't as big or busy as NY or Chicago.
Thanks for this post. I am struggling with the same choices. I want something that is sturdy, not too bulkyand can break down easily. After a lot of research I also like the uppababy vista, but also like the orbit and the icandy. I think I need to see them all side by side..
Re: Stroller advice.. Buggaboo, Uppababy, Jogger, or just a snap n go and maclaren?

Best of luck.

Bugaboo bee was my latest choice, but there was a recall.
Since then, I have decided to get the uppababy cruz! which is smaller and lighter than vista, but has all the goodies that vista delivered.
