When did you introduce meats to dc? I was thinking about trying it today. I've seen info that says anywhere from 7-9 months. Just curious what others did.
We recently started pureed chicken. We did our own which was super easy. I opened a jar of turkey and was completely disgusted by it. There was no way I was going to give it to DS when I wouldn't want to eat it myself.
I know, I always said I can't either. But I'm telling myself he doesn't know any different. And we were given a few jars from friends, so what the heck. Might as well. And I'm starting to freak about iron. The pedi has never said anything, but what can I say, I'm obsessive! The tricky part is that I always try everything I give him - that one is going to be hard to do.
I haven't yet. I'll probably wait a few more weeks. I did buy a couple jars of meat but like pp said it does gross me out so I may not be able to give it to her. I like the idea of giving her some very small pieces of shredded chicken. Maybe I'll give her a little turkey at Thanksgiving.
Our pedi said to wait until 7 months at their appt.
The idea of jarred meats grosses me out too. However, my mom watches the girls and decided (on her own....but that's a whole other post) to give them a jar of chicken and apples yesterday. Apparently, they *loved* it.
As an added bonus, both girls had black tar-like poo this morning. It had to be the chicken.

My pedi said okay at 6 months. He has taken quite well to them- both jarred and DIY pureed. The Earth's Best chicken + sweet potatoes is pretty nonoffensive. The gerber meats are pretty disgusting, especially the ham.. blech, smells like cat food. BUT- DS loves that crap mixed with apples. He also loves chicken + apples. Last night I gave him DIY shredded pork + sweet potatoes.
Re: meats at 7 months?
Ditto! We just started with meat last week. We gave him little bites of rotisserie chicken and he did great with it!
