Strollers

I may be jumping the gun, but we had asked for a few items like this for Xmas gifts, and I am rethinking what I picked out now.  I originally wanted the Chicco travel system and a snap & go for running errands and if I was by myself and wanted somehting more light weight.  Now I am not sure if maybe I should do somehting more like just the snap & go with car seat, and then a city mini once the baby is bigger.  I'm really not sure.  What is everyone else doing?

Re: Strollers

  • CITY MINI all the way. I had that as my single with Connor and got the adapter for the Chicco Keyfit infant carseat. I never needed anything else. It's amazing and I totally miss it now that I have my heavy convertible stroller (Britax B-Ready... it's great too, but a beast).

  • We plan to have to have a heavy duty big stroller with big wheels for when we are visiting my parents---they live in the middle of nowhere with dirt roads--or walking on trails in our area. We also want a small really easy to throw the car stroller for when we are at festivals and the farmers market when the baby is older.  When he's tiny, I'll be putting him in a sling or wrap to avoid people trying to touch him all the time (I'd like to think that if he's right close to me, people won't be so grabby!)

  • I am getting the Britax B Agile, I went and tested them all out yesterday and love this one. The only issue I dont like is the colors. They come in black or red, prettty boring, but I will get over it, I love everything else about it. And I will be getting the Britax B Safe Car Seat to go with it and it comes with a adapter so you dont have to purchase one seperately. I thought it was pretty lightweight and easy to handle.

  • We decided to just get one nice stroller that will work as a travel system as well as something light weight.

We figured this was easier and most likely cheaper in the long run than having 3 different strollers. We settled on the UppaBaby Vista 2012 edition since it is light, can be used as a snap-and-go travel system, and is easy to fold up and store.

We don't plan on jogging with the baby so there was no need for a jogging stroller and my sister gave me her umbrella stroller so we'll use that for things when baby is a bit bigger.

  • When LO is teeny, tiny, I'll use a sling/wrap.  We also have a snap and go from DS and love how easy and lightweight it is so we'll use that as well.  That was perfect when I was by myself - so light and easy!!

I have a jogging stoller now for DS that I love, but is not very user friendly when in the mall or the stores.  It's also kind of clunky and takes up my entire trunk.  I'd like to find something a little smaller for "indoor use" but haven't decided if it's going to be a double stroller, a sit and stand or a single.

  • Travel Systems aren't my style... I find them bulky and unattractive.

We found the Britax B-Agile Stroller and the Britax B-Ready Infant seat and we're in love.  The stroller is very similiar to the City Mini but with better features (self locking, bigger basket) and it has a snap-n-go capability with a Britax infant seat.  A win-win in our book!

  • City Mini for sure!  Just buy the adapter and you won't need a snap and go at all.  I had a travel system with my first and it was horrible; too bulky/heavy.  I don't regret purchasing the City Mini one bit.  With this new baby I'm getting the City Select.
  • I bought the Kolcraft contours 3 stroller. It does it all. I love it.

  • With our DD I got the BOB with the car seat adapter. I LOVE this stroller. You can literally control it with one finger if you have to. I have had many times I have an armload of other stuff and can easily handle the stroller!  We also live in Canada where we generally have snow 6+ months of the year and it glides through snow like a dream!
  • We are just going with 1 stroller - the City Elite. We will use this as our snap and go for the first few months and then as a regular stroller once the baby is bigger. It is larger (though not as big as some jogging strollers, and they actually recommend not jogging with it) but we felt it was what we needed for our lifestyle. We live in a sort of urban area with brick sidewalks and we also go for long walks at the nature park by our house, so we wanted something with wheels big enough to go over tough terrain. Plus it still has the easy fold and it's not super heavy.

I plan to wear the baby a lot in the beginning as well when we're in stores, etc. We're not big mall people at all, so I don't see that really being an issue for us.

Travel systems are not my style at all - too heavy and bulky!

  • We're also going with the Britax B-Agile and Britax B-Safe.  I love them!  We tested out the stroller at BRU a month or two ago and fell in love.  We asked for it for Christmas and I'm hoping to get both!! Big Smile
  • We just went with a stroller we both liked and got the car seat adapter.  I have a umbrella stroller from DD that is just fine for when baby is a little older.

I thought I wanted a snap and go but the car seat adapter did the same thing for us.

  • It depends on where you are using it. I know people have had trouble with the Chicco systems on uneven sidewalks (cobblestone) and off anything that's flat. Based on what I've seen in DC, the snap n go and then the Citi Mini is a very viable option.

We did the UppaBaby, which can hold the carseat, has a bassinet (the carseats get really hot during the summer), and a regular seat. We're going to add another seat when DC #2 arrives.

  • I am getting a snap & go but still torn on which one I want.  I am between a Chicco Keyfit and the Graco Snugride.  I anticipate using this for a little over 6 months.

Then I am getting a Maclaren Quest Sport which is super light weight (about 12 lbs) and stands on its own when folded.  I live in an apt and will be using the stroller just about every day when I walk the baby to and from my apt to my MIL's apartment in the adjacent building.  Theres lots of little steps and doors so weight is very very important.  On that same note, being able to fold up the stroller for space is important as well.

I was told by multiple mothers not to do the whole travel system because of the extra weight and bulk.

  • We're getting a chariot for jogging, biking, etc.  Then we're getting a snap'n'go and a cheap umbrella stroller for stores, traveling, etc.

  • With my DS I had a snap and go and then eventually got the City mini at 9 months.   I really wish we had started with the City Mini and just paid extra for the car seat attachment.   I hate, hate, hate pushing my snap and go and the basket isn't any more convenient than the city mini.   As much as I hate the snap and go, I love my city mini.   Since the car seat attachment is about the cost of the snap n go it's a wash cost wise but you'll save space.  Also the city mini has a full recline so you wouldn't necessarily have to use it with a car seat attachment.

FYI my DH was hestitant about spending that much on a stroller since I also have a jogging stroller but he loves the city mini now.  He actually wants to get a double one while I think we'll be okay with my single and a baby carrier.

  • I have the chicco travel system and hate it. We bought a Phil and Teds last year and will get the carseat adapter or use the bassinet that comes with it. I love my Phil and Teds.
  • So far the Chicco but Im waiting for my DH to come home from his deployment to go together and get a better fit. We are both tall 6'0 and 6'2 so far I have a problem with most for the handle bar.
