If DS is reacting to Alimentum, is there any point in trying Nutrmigen?

DS has MSPI and has been symptom free after cutting dairy and soy from my diet. Unfortunately, I'm not able to pump enough for his daycare bottles and I've exhausted my safe freezer stash so I started giving him half formula half breast milk bottles this week. Well, I don't see any blood in his stool but the green smelly poo is back. His only symptoms originally were green, mucous poo with trace blood. Should I assume that since the green poo is back that he cannot tolerate this formula? Is there even any reason to try Nutrimigen? Forgot to add we are using the ready to feed Alimentum.

  • I wouldtry giving him a regular alimentum formula (not ready to feed). I've heard ready to feed is a bit different from the regular. We are giving my son regular Alimentum formula and he is doing well. He did not tolerate any other formula or my milk from 5 weeks (even whe I went dairy/soy/nuts free for a month).

  • Is the green poo very similar to before you went dairy and soy free? Just asking because I know when we transitioned DS to formula initially, his poo was green. But it didn't have mucus and wasn't watery/more foul smelling.

  • It doesn't have mucous but it may be that I just can't see the mucous b.c he'snon cereal now and the poo is thicker. It has the same smell that it did when things were bad though. Talked to the pedi and they want me to use Elecare for two weeks and see how he does. Since we are still bfeeding too, one can will hopefully last us awhile. Once his system clears I am going to try more milk plus to increase my supply.
