This is illegal right?

I am watching Secretly Pregnant and this girl just took her 16 month old in a cab with no car seat. She just held the baby on her lap. That can't be legal or safe, right?

    Totally legal.  My SIL lives in NYC and carries her 8 month old in the cab if she takes a cab.  She just plops him on her lap.  She says she tries to avoid it if possible.. if she can walk, she'll just take him in the stroller.  I guess if you live in the city, it's not such a big deal, but as a suburban-ite it makes me cringe.

    Wow I thought it was a law.

    It is a really stupid show on TLC I just stumbled on a few mins ago. From what I gather these girls are pregnant and hiding it from their parents. The no car seat girl was knocked up twice by a married man.

    Andplusalso- Most of them aren't even teenagers. One of them was a 40-y-o woman hiding her pregnancy from her mom because she didn't think her mom would approve. I mean, really?!

    Completly legal in a cab.  Although I've heard of a couple of cab companies that will put a car seat in the cab for a fee and only if you request it when schedualing a cab
