**LLCG**

You had mentioned before that you took Lexapro while pregnant. I'm on it and it's been great. I was wondering if you were able to breastfeed while on it or if you had any issues with it. You can email me if you don't want to post here. Angelaggie at msn. Thanks!

Re: **LLCG**

  • Yes, I did take Lexapro while pregnant and while BF'ing.  I even raised my dose to 20mg a few weeks after she was born.  Nope, so side effects at all.  My OB was fine with it and I was actually a little nervous about what our pedi would say.  I was relieved when she was not only OK with it, but she reassured me that it would not be harmful to the baby at all and that she would prefer that I take it so that I could be the best mommy I could to her patient.

At 13 months I am still taking lexapro and still BF'ing.  No bad side effects yet.

    Thank God for modern medicine!

eta: My OB encouraged me to take it as people with a history of anxiety/depression are more prone to PPD than others.   It was better for me to have it in my system than to just start it after I gave birth.  I was taking 10mg then.  When she was born I had pretty bad baby blues, which is why I went up to the 20mg.  I thought all new moms were sad, miserable, and regretted having their baby.  Looking back, I know that's not true.

All that to say to watch for the signs and stay on top of it.  I probably suffered for a month longer than I needed to.  Check in here and with your husband to see if what you are feeling is "normal" or something more.

    I'm excited for you!

  • Thanks so much! I'm on 10mg as well. The OB has already said he'd like me on them after birth. My SIL suffered from PPD and I have a feelingly DH will be watching me like a hawk for any signs. Thank you so much! And you're awesome for going 13 months. Right now I'm aiming for 6.
