My instincts are all messed up!

I have been to labor and delivery 3 times in the past week.  The first time I had to stay for 2 nights as they tried to stop my contractions- they ended up stopping my contractions and now I'm on Nefidepine (blood pressure meds) every 6 hours to keep contractions away and got steroids to help develop the baby's lungs if I was to go into true labor.  Now i feel contractions several times a day but they're not really painful and I'm not dilated. I'm so glad that the contractions are not progressing anything but now I don't know when to tell when I should really go back into L&D.  I'm so confused now.  Baby is transverse so I need a c-sections so my labor can't really go too far.  I'm a little stressed about it... I don't want to wait too long but I don't want to jump in the car easily.  Anyone else just plain confused when their actually in labor?

  • If I were you, I would be closely monitoring the contractions. If they get closer together and more painful, you should go in. Also, what does the doctor say? How often are they checking you? (Please don't say, they don't know you are still contracting!!!)

  • I had a doctor's appointment and told her that I feel contractions all day long.  She told me 5 painful contractions in an hour and that's when to call.  She didn't check if I was dilated though and I don't go back now until the 30th.  She also said I should be cautious and call whenever I feel that something changes.  This is just so different for me- With our first son my water broke at 36 weeks and we had him 5 hours later.  No contractions, no false alarms... it was much easier.

  • just watch your contractions. Closeness, timeing intensity. Call Dr if it get to the point you have been told to. Trust your instincts, if you really feel its true contractions, go in!
