What size going home outfit is everyone picking up? I know everyone says not to buy too many NB size clothing or diapers in case baby is big, but what for that first trip home?
I am leaning toward 3m since I was a big baby myself but I was just wondering what everyone else is doing.
Thanks!

Re: Going home outfits, NB or 3m?
I'm taking a NB outfit. If the kid is big, then I'll have someone else grab a 0-3m outfit from the house and bring it to the hospital.
ETA: I was a larger baby (9 lbs) and so was DH. My DD was a peanut - 6 1/2 lbs.

I packed a newborn and a 0-3 month.... I'd rather not have anyone have to go back and get something... I brought a heavier one in both and a lighter one in both because our weather here is way to unpredictable... could be snowing or 70 degrees!? haha.... DH asked if I was leaving any of her clothes at home.
Good to know, thanks!
Also, PP, having someone run out for a bigger outfit is smart. We are team green so I can only imagine how many eager relatives would be up for that task!
Ditto... I just packed one of each.
I'm bringing NB, but our LO will also be here early (inducing next week), so I'm not worried about it being too small. DH and I were both around 7-lbs so we're not expecting a large baby even if we had gone to our EDD.

This is what I am doing: one of each. I just washed both outfit this weekend and packed in our delivery bag.
I have the same outfit in NB and 3mo. Figure as I get closer to my due date I can see which would be better.
If we're going by me, my sister, DH, his bro/sis, and my sisters kids birth weights the NB outfit will be returned...

DS was 6lbs5oz at birth and was positively SWIMMING in his newborn size sleeper. I think the kid would have to be pretty large for you to need a 3M size.
But it can't hurt to bring both, they take up so little room!

This, one of each and they are sleepers, not onesies.
I'm a first-timer, so.... I'm basing this off of our LO's measurements and how we were at birth. DH went straight into the 3mos clothing, and I was tiny (6lbs exactly) and wore NB for a long while.
LO is measuring ahead by 1.5-2wks, so I'm expecting he/she will follow DH's example and want the 3mos size.
Just in case, though, I'll bring one of each NB and 3mos.

DS was 8 1/2 pounds and fit into a NB perfect, but he was also a little less than a month early. I'm thinking I'll get both sizes, just in case.
I honestly dont know how big a baby would have to be to not fit in newborn sizing... I'm thinking 10-11+ lbs. My first was 8lbs 6 oz (born at 40 weeks) and she wore a preemie outfit home. I wanted her going home outfit to fit, not swim on her and it did, perfect fit! She could only wear the preemie clothes for a few days, then newborn fit perfectly for a good 3-4 weeks after that.
My second was 7lbs 15 oz and I did the same thing for her. Packed a preemie and a newborn outfit. Newborn was too big (but it was summer and the preemie outfit didnt have legs, so that might have helped) so she wore the preemie onesie home and it fit great.
I'm definitely not packing 0-3 months, that size is massive on most newborns.
ETA: My first was 21 inches, second was 20 1/2 inches.
You might be suprised.
DH and I were expecting my DD to be big. She ended up being 7lb,2oz and very petite up until 12 mos. She wore newborn clothes for quite a bit longer than I was expecting.
Same here. When I saw my doc last he said this baby should be about 7-8lbs at the end so 0-3 seemed like the right thing. I agree though, if it's a bit big, oh well. There'll be a blanket on LO in the carseat as well.
