New to the board but struggling with decisions..

So a little about my history:  I'm a soon to be mom of three- I have a 9 yr old, a one yr old, and due with the third in Feb.  I was induced with my first, had to have an emergency C-sec with second, but I'm really wanting to have a VBAC with this baby.

 My issue is this, I had a consultation with the Dr last week, and she informed me that if I go over my due date without baby coming on her own that I would need to be either induced, or have an elective C-sec.   She did inform me that there was a 1 in 200 chance of having a uterine rupture with induction, but that there was an increased chance of infection and repeat C-sec if I choose the elective C-sec instead.   I really really really don't want another C-sec, first of all I hate hospitals (I'm in the UK and the rules here on visitors and what not are horrible!)  I would rather VBAC and go home the same day or day after and recover at home.  However the idea of putting extra risk of rupture scares me.  I've looked up statics and talked to other midwives and Dr's and I keep getting conflicting advice.  Has anyone had any experience with being induced after a C-sec?

    I was indued with pit at 41 weeks for my VBAC.  I had to be monitored but my midwife was not at all concerned.  DD was born via induced VBAC without any complications.  Of course, I would have preferred that she came on her own time but my hospital would not allow me go past 41 weeks.  I had induction or RCS as my options at that point.  I felt my risks were still greater with RCS at that point and went with the induction.  Glad I did!  Good luck with your decision!

    Thank you so much for a positive story!  I've been struggling to find one. :)   My consultant told me wether I go naturally or have to be induced I'm going to be monitored so I am prepared for that.  Was just really nervous that being chemically induced would increase my risk of rupture. Hearing a positive story really helps with building my confidence on sticking with a VBAC. :) thank you again.

    FWIW, I was worried about induction my entire pregnancy but when the time came I was completely calm about it.  Most doctors refuse to induce a VBAC which is why you won't find too many stories about it.  The fact that you are given the option is actually a positive sign that your provider is a good choice.  Good luck!

    For what it is worth, my OB said she has only seen 2 uterine ruptures and both moms had never had a C/S. I think ruptures are less common than they would like us to believe.

    I really hope so- My consultant told me 1 in 200 cases ( I'm beginning to wonder if those are just out of the UK though) will result in a rupture with a chemical induction.  However while she said it, she seemed totally unworried! :) Nice Scottish lass, so I'd like to trust her.  I just feel a VBAC is the right way for me- even if I need to be induced.  It's just good to find some positive support vs the "better safe than sorry" folk that seem to think another section is the best option.
