2nd Trimester

19 weeks and don't feel movement

Hi all!  New to the posts.

I am 19w1d and still have not felt movement.  I am starting to get anxious.  I have only gained a few pounds, and its been mostly in the past week.  Other people I have talked to say they started feeling movement at 17-18 weeks.  I go to the doctor in 9 days for my ultrasound, and I can't wait!

Re: 19 weeks and don't feel movement

  • Is this your first? Don't worry, it's not unusual at all to not feel anything for a few more weeks. Hang in there.

  • Yes, first pregnancy!
  • I was still in my normal clothes until 20 weeks and didn't even feel a flutter until 21w1d. Even then it was nowhere near regular until recently.
  • With my first, I didn't feel anything until 22 weeks, and then it woke me up like a shot to the stomach in the middle of the night.  I wouldn't worry yet!

  • With DS I didn't feel anything until 19w6d.  The day before my 20w u/s I felt what I can only describe a muscle twitch.  Kind of like when you're eyelid twitches and you can't control it.

  • I was feeling just like you last week. I only gained 4 lbs the last time i went to the doc (this was 3 wks ago) and didn't feel anything until last wed night. Then nothing again until this Sunday and it has been every night since! It just happens... soon enough for you I am sure!

  • I didn't feel DS moving with my first pregnancy until around 20ish weeks... i wouldn't worry if it's your first baby, pretty soon it will be moving all over the place and kicking you in the ribs :o)

  • OP: I am just a few days behind you, and I haven't felt anything yet, either. It is also my first pregnancy. I wish that I had felt something, but I know in my head that it is normal to not feel anything yet. (That doesn't mean that I don't worry about it some, though - but I can usually reassure myself pretty well.)
