I had a c-section (emergency though) during my 36th and half week, and I did not get an amnio. I think there may have to be other factors involved to get an amnio though.
We were planning to do c-sect at 36 wks for placenta previa, and did amnio beforehand. I had had steriods for lung dev. and the test came back not mature, but we delivered at 37 wks on a risk vs benefit of delivering at that point. Things were getting too dangerous compared to her chances on the outside. Amnio was NBD, easy breezy!

DD was born at 35 weeks by emergency C section and we did not have to do an amnio. However this time OB wanted to schedule the Csection for week 38 and said we would have to have the amnio, I didn't want one so we scheduled for week 39 and if we have more than 5 contractions in an hour for more than 2 hours we will just go in and do the C section early.
The amnio scared me....alot...

I had a planned c-sect at 36 wks for placenta previa, and did not do an amnio beforehand. They gave me steriods for lung development 48 and 24 hours before the c-sect. With that, he had to go into the NICU for a short stay due to grunting while breathing.
No, they didn't do an amnio on me,not sure why. We did have lots of other monitoring; weekly NST's, OB visits, and u/s. (4 appointments weekly for about 12 w) We were scheduled for c/s Christmas week, but because of very low fluid and breech baby, went in on 12/8 instead. The section itself wasn't bad, just surreal not being able to move, and hearing drs behind the screen and SO at my head. All in all, it was a wonderful expierance, despite little sleep the day before and being scared, those first cries made it all worth it!

DS #2 was born at 36w I did not have an amnio I had PROM and since I was a repeat c they went ahead and did the section an hour after I arrived at the hospital. He did have to spend 9 hours in the NICU but only for observation

I did not get an amnio, I asked if they would do an u/s if they scheduled a c-section prior to 39 weeks and they said no. I went into labor at 37 weeks and had the c-section. I mean they wouldn't have stopped it at 37 weeks...but S had a lot of fluid in her lungs and a heart murmur. And I wish I would have been prepared for the tests and all the time separated. Which I feel an u/s may have done.
Did not get an amnio since LO was technically an emergency c-section and was born at 36 weeks, 6 days. I had to have an NST and fetal biophysical profile due to him having little movement for two days. I made the call to get checked out by my OB, got sent to the hospital to get those two tests done and ended up having my c-section that evening.
