Say what?! Luckily I don't talk to people much so I don't have to hear crazy shiz very often. My mom was trying to get me to give her water at 3 days old though.
I hate when people ask where her socks are. We live in Georgia FFS!
...baby sucks on ring pop. Sucker falls off stick. Sucker is now lodged in baby's throat.....
Doesn't sound like a great idea to me. But to each their own. I hear things all the time. I don't even pay attention. But SIL makes me laugh inside all the time. She is pregnant again and we were talking about tylenol being safe to take. And she says "So many things have changed sence I was pregnant last (Aug 2010). I am aloud to have deli meat and one cup of coffe a day."
We usually don't do juice either but last night I forgot the sippy cup so we gave Jay a juice box. He used the straw like a champ!

LOL about your SIL. I had 1 cup of 1/2 caf every single day of the pregnancy, every morning. As for deli meat, omg. I highly doubt this is all new information in 1 year. lol
From MIL when E got fussy from being held to much "See, this is why you're supposed to hold them more when they're little!" Yeah, apparently I didn't hold my kid enough and that's why she's not a cuddler, not because she is always on the go and is just an independent baby.
Another from MIL Me: "She is seriously eyeing up my strawberry. I'm really not comfortable giving them to her until she's 1 though, sorry kid." MIL: "Well, we are less then a mile away from a hospital." We're also going to end up causing E to have allergies to certain foods like chocolate, peanut butter, and seafood because we're not comfortable with her having them yet.
And going off of what SweetH said, one day in the middle of the summer E was fussing in the grocery store and some lady comes up to me and says "She's probably cold from not having pants and socks on." Ya know, cause a 6 month old is freezing when it's over 100 degrees outside.

LOL I then said it changes from doctor to doctor. She said she changed doctors, maybe that is why.
I ate deli meat while I was preggo and probably some other things that weren't recomended. And I had soda (no coffee though).

WTF? Is that supposed to somehow make it ok? My uncle died of a heart attack in a cardiology office, across the street from a hospital.
When we had Aiden people constantly told us how gross using cloth diapers was. You know all the people that a year later had their own kids and wanted me to tell them ALL about it, help them buy them and learn how to use them.
My mom always pushed water on us with A too. And still does with Emily. Why people can't understand that I don't want to fill my 5th percentile & off the growth chart kids up with empty calories is beyond me.
And if I have to defend our choice to keep them rear facing to at least 2 years old on more time, I'll go nuts. "I'm sure he'd enjoy the ride more & see more forward facing!" Umm they ride great as it is now & it's safer, why mix it up?
Why would you give your baby milk at 4 months? and a ring pop? wtf

Apparently it is. I wasn't shocked when she said it. We're talking about the same lady who tried to let her chew on a metal fork (because giving a baby something metal and pointy is a great idea!), gave her a metal spoon to chew on after I took the fork away and gave it back to her 4 times after I asked her to not let her chew on it until I just took it and put it in the sink so she couldn't, let her nap on the couch while she cleaned her house and did laundry, and continuously gives E things to eat either without asking us or right after we say we don't want her to have it.

Whitney RARELY has cold feet. She will not keep socks on. Or shoes for that matter.
Are your LO's the same?
Em never keeps socks on, even when her feet are cold!
I love my Granny to death but she is constantly saying my kids are freezing without socks or pants. It about gives her a heart attack when we let them have nekkid time before their baths and run around for 15 minutes.

The only way I've managed to keep socks on her is to put the socks on, keep them unrolled (up to the knee area) and then put baby legs on over them. Keeps them from sliding off. It also helps now that she's walking instead of dragging her legs on the floor.

LOL, Its W's life mission to get all socks and baby legs off. Little stinker.
The world is full of the so-called baby experts....
My IL's wanted met to put Karo Syrup on Joshua's paci when he was about 2 months old - he was fussing just a little and they said that would calm him right down - they could not believe I would say no to that.
I formula fed - I was told by a 'friend' that I should breast feed to make it up to the baby for the lack of prenatal care.
I can't beleive the ring pop offer & the comment about the hosital being less than a mile away.

When I was having a hard time getting DD to eat solids.. "give her a happy meal she will eat it up!" no thanks!
my crazy azz MIL told me to give DD peanut butter on toast.. when I told her about the food allergy risk she said "but she is a YEAR AND A HALF old. it doesnt matter." Um, actually it DOES matter oh, and she is 10MONTHS you crazy lady!
only when they are in the wrapper though, COME ON!!! Give me some credit. but seriously, yes she does love in the wrapper ring pops, my SIL gave her one to play with. That crinkly noise I suppose.

I have a bag of croutons on Burger King that DD loves playing with. I keep it in the pantry just for her and she leaves all the other food alone.
My MIL has always acted like we are killing LO since we do not give him extra water. From like day one.
There is also a co-worker who pretty much every day comes up with a new sweet treat that I should give him - like cookies the size of his head. No thanks.
Finally, DS almost always has socks on. His feet are always freezing. He only takes them off while he is in his car seat.

my DD will wear the soft leather shoes with socks. If she isn't wearing shoes she will yank off the socks.
Shiloh loves ring pops.
