Keeping our monitor...And update(s?)

DS had his 4 month check last Friday...we were told that he has to stay on the monitor due to an "abnormal" reading...of course I wish we didn't need it...but I am happy we have one if that is what my baby needs...he had two Brady episodes in one night about two weeks ago also. On happy notes he is gaining weight (though still under the 3rd percentile at only 11.1 lbs), has started rolling over and I *think* I have noticed him swatting at toys...or he is moving his arms more and is hitting them! And he is doing so well with his reflux that I don't think we've seen signs in weeks! How are your LOs doing? Lets all update!!

Re: Keeping our monitor...And update(s?)

  • Oh blah! I understand the love/hate relationship with the monitor - it's good that he's still on it, though. Sounds like he's doing geat! 11.1 WOO!

DS is going a mile a minute! For all the time it felt that we stood still in NB mode he is flying now. He's started crawling and beginning to show interest in pulling up. Two teeth have cut - another two are trying. We've started solids (BLW). He's sleeping in his crib now with is a really big deal because we'd been bed sharing but with his new crawling skills that wasn't safe anymore. He wasn't keen on that decision at first, but is good now ;) He has a ROP-eye exam at the children's hospital that I'm not looking forward to. I don't like going there.

That's the short of it :) Thanks for asking!

  • Like Stephanie, I had a love/hate relationship with Kevin's monitor too.  We have him on a Snuza now and it went off at least once every hour last night for absolutely no reason.  I'm too afraid to retire it though but I'm dragging today.

Which brings me to my update....

Today is Kevin's birthday!  He's making great progress with PT according to his therapist (and we definitely see him making improvement).  His reflux has subsided a bit but he's still not gaining weight at the rate I want to see.  May revisit the gtube option in January.

So stats - as of yesterday he is 14lbs, 3.5oz and 26.5".   Four teeth have broken through, he's about to crawl (as soon as he gets over his aversion to tummy time) and all he wants to do is stand and bounce.

  • Happy birthday Kevin!!  (and congrats, OscarQ for making through the first year)

My DS is doing great.  He is officially a walker - the boy started pulling up and cruising in early August, and took almost 4 months to let go!  As of Thanksgiving, we realized he was doing it more and more consistently, and now he definitely walks as a main mode of transportation.  I'm still amazed and in awe of him every day.

DS is also a chunk - he's just under 18 months, and over 24 pounds.  We are in early intervention for a speech delay - he says mama/dada and has been babbling a ton too, so he's making strides for that.  He also just had a follow up exam for his eyes - he goes every 6 months.  He has a bit of a wandering eye that the opthomologist thinks could be a result of his ROP surgery.  But, if it is from the surgery then it is not treatable.  It's not very noticable though.  He will probably need glasses by age three, he's nearsighted (like many preemies, apparently) but that is no big deal.

That's it here...time is flying and it's been so fun watching his personality oome out more and more!  Love the updates from everyone!
