2nd Trimester

Pregnant with First- Having a boy!

Hello all,

I am 32 and 19 weeks pregnant with my first. We found out last week that it's a boy! To be honest, I (and hubby) were really hoping for a girl... I feel awful saying this, but was somewhat disappointed. I know I should just be happy and hope baby is healthy, but I am having a hard time accepting that it's a boy. I am a girlie girl in so many ways and was looking forward to a daughter... Does anyone have any insight/advice or has anyone been in the same situation? I have been trying to get excited by shopping for boy stuff but it's still difficult!

  • First off don't feel bad wishing it was a girl. Dh and I were hoping this baby was a girl too because this is our last and we have two boys already we thought it would be nice to have one girl.  As a momma of two wonderful boys I can tell you you will love it!! I am a fairly girlie girl too but your little boy will steal your heart. Little boys teach you so much about yourself and you dh that you never knew, you will love seeing lo play with dh and dh teach lo all the things he knows as he grows up. Little boys love their mommas better and longer than little girls, plus you will never have to deal with pms :)

I have learned more about trucks, trains, dinosaurs, and legos than I ever thought I wanted to and loved every minute of it. You get used to shopping in the "blue" section and in time you will be glad you don't have to worry about your 5 year old wanting to dress like a 18 year old girl.

Don't worry as soon as you hold lo in your arms you will love him with a love you never knew existed and soon you will be so in love with all things boy it will be amazing to even you.

gl and don't feel alone or guilty for what you are feeling now just know soon it will change

  • think of it this way, daddy's little girl & momma's boy. i've seen soo many friends with children who prove that to be true. i'm having a little girl and already know she is going to be such a daddy's girl. i can feel it in the way she reacts to his voice. be happy!! a baby of any gender, is amazing. and besides, maybe you'll have a girl next and she'll be protected by big brother. good luck :) & congrats!!

  • When I found out I was pregnant with my son, I didn't know what I'd do with a boy. I am such a girly girl and didn't know how I'd adapt to the boy life. I was excited none the less and I have to tell you, boys are amazing. He's an absolute joy and I couldn't be happier. He's my buddy, that's for sure. You'll realize all I this.. Promise.

  • We felt the same way with our first. We both wanted a boy so bad and I actually cried when the tech told us it was a girl. Now I can't imagine my life without her and she is such a daddy's girl. Before we found out with this one my husband said he was actually hoping for another girl. Well, now we are having a boy and I'm going to turn him into my snuggle-bug :)
