What is December's birthstone?

I just looked it up and found like 100 different responses.

My guess is most people would use the traditional though.

hmmm, I googled and found blue topaz and turquoise listed. It looks like some of the big jewelry stores say blue topaz is....

I'd either pick one off of one of those lists, or go ask a jeweler. I'd assume that whatever they said was the more widely recognized list.

I've always known it as Blue Topaz.

Blue zircon is the one most widely acknowledged. Blue topaz is a cheaper substitute. I think turquoise and tanzanite are also acceptable. So exciting!

I'm a December baby (Sags are awesome!) and growing up I always received stones that were blue topaz/turqouoise. When I was in high school, though, tanzanite was added as an alternative and I've used that as my birthstone ever since because it's a pretty purple-ish color instead of the way too bright blue.

And congrats, BTW. I lurk over here occasionally and have followed your adoption ups and downs. I'm so happy your baby has finally found you! It seems like you'll be a wonderful mom.

My Mom is a December baby and we've always given her Blue Topaz items when we buy her birthstone jewelry. Not sure what your looking for but overstock.com has some beautiful blue topaz pieces at really reasonable prices.

I wear a blue topaz for it. I'm not generally a turquoise fan, and I didn't see any blue zircon rings that I liked when I was looking.

DS1 is a December baby and I consider his birthstone the blue topaz, although I have read that it's turquiose as well. Whatever stone you prefer, I would go with.
