So confused! Would you call?

I am having contractions from about 3-6 minutes apart.  They have been going on for about 2 hours.  However, I always thought real labor would be painful.  These do not hurt, except that it feels like my belly might pop from being so tight.  I have had contractions since Sat, they are only a bit more strong since the beginning ones...I don't know if this is the real thing or not!

Should I just try to sleep and see if I still have them later?

Re: So confused! Would you call?

  • Definitely go back to sleep:) I had false labor at 35 weeks with contractions every 5 minutes, very "strong" but not painful. Once we got to the hospital they were even a bit closer together (only went because I was still preterm). It's either super early labor or the "pre labor" that helps move your cevix along but isnt the real thing yet. Unless you live like an hour from your hospital Id wait until the contrax are painful enough that you cant walk or talk through them before I went in. Try to rest and if they are false they will go away, if they are the real thing at some point the pain will wake you up in the middle of the night once they get strong enough.

Good luck but Id definitely wait it out! If you cant sleep because of them try taking a bath or if you really want to jump start things go on a walk (or if you have stairs go up and down them some). But real labor will come regardless of what you do or dont do.

Ahh, that all makes perfect sense. I think I was trying to get to that conclusion, but my fried-still pregnant brain just wasn't totally connecting the dots :) I am definitely going to attempt to get some sleep, we'll see if I actually can... Thank you!

  • Sadly, here I am at work. Again. Still have an inside baby. The contractions actually did get worse and I had more cramping and even back pain. This morning I am back to just the tightening feeling contractions.

:( Im sorry girl! If it makes you feel better the same thing ended up happening to me last night too! I started having painful back to front contractions about 5-7 minutes apart ALL NIGHT. I knew it probably wasnt the real thing and MH had just come home from work at 2 am so we both went to sleep. I woke up and still having a couple painful ones, but definitely not the real thing yet:( But hopefully progress is being made "down there"!

Aw, bummer, we were both so close!  I agree, the "down there" stuff better be getting a move on already ;)  Good luck to you!!
