DD's daycare is open MTW next week and closed until Jan with a couple of paid holidays. I am off next week (hands in the air, celebrate!) and have debated taking DD to day care or not.
We are paying for the whole week. I just feel like I'm supposed to not have her in day care if I'm able to be with her. I long for more time with her and some days RUSH home to get her (and some days not as fast...) so I feel as though I'm not supposed to want her to go to daycare if I'm home.
There are a few appointments I need to/can get done and much easier if she is in day care and she can have fun with her friends. It's different for me because it's a home daycare down the street and her teacher knows I'm off...
I'm just venting, anyone else feel guilty? I'm sure I'm going to do it anyway (win win for me and DD, right?) but wish I didn't feel bad about it.
Re: feeling guilty
I always sent Jakob to daycare when I was off. I'd make it easy on us though, we'd still sleep in a bit and have a relaxed breakfast together. And then I'd pick him up early.
Kids get settled in their routines. It would have just messed with him to keep him out the whole time. And he would rather be in school with his friends than out running errands with me.
This is probably what I'd do. Sometimes it's best to have them in their usual routine and get your appointments knocked out on your own. It's not going to be any fun for her to tag along, KWIM?
To answer your question, yes I do feel guilty sometimes. But like pp said, I'll enjoy the time that I have to do what I need to do (that they won't enjoy anyway) and then I pick them up early and try to do something super fun that we all enjoy together.
Yay for time off !! Hope you enjoy every second of it!

Me too. But I'm used to it now, because he's in school full time even when I work shift work and have days off during the week. When he was younger and in school part time, and home with me on my days off, I would feel a little guilty if I dropped him at school in order to get things done on my day off. All I'm saying is that it's normal to feel a little guilty, but it's totally ok (and especially at this time of year, necessary!) to take some time for yourself to get things done. Pick her up a little early, but still take her and get your money's worth and try not to feel too guilty.
