Santa gifts...

How do you do Santa gifts?

Does Santa give your DC everything they ask for? XH's cousin recently posted on FB about a dilemma with her son. He had asked Santa for 4 or 5 big ticket items and she was fretting on how to address the situation because Santa usually brings her DS everything on his list.  Is this the norm?

I thought you gave Santa a list and he chose from that list .

Re: Santa gifts...

  • Santa brings what Santa feels like bringing.  The kids don't get everything they want.

This year, Jakob asked Santa for an Xbox with Kinect.  Not gonna happen.

  • I'm not there yet but honestly, I think that is crazy.  Kids want all kinds of stuff and who has the $ to give it to them?  (And even if they did, I don't think kids really need everything they want.)

I think I'd (as Santa) just pick some stuff off the list and then bring some other stuff I find on my own.

  • Santa doesn't necessarily bring everything on the list.  He also puts greedy kids, who ask him for too much, on the naughty list and they don't get anything.  Or so the story goes at our house.
  • See...that is what I was thinking...Santa gives you a few gifts but not every d@mn thing you ask for. That family does have money but that doesn't make it ok. She has since explained that there is not a Santa to fix her problem.

Exactly. Mia asked for an iPad, sorry kid, not happening.

Yep same here.  In fact if you saw my post yesterday, Santa took it upon (her)self to get all of DS's gifts out of the way early, then heard DS's wish list which didn't have anything that Santa had already gotten!  He asked Santa for a horse and a choo choo (which I determine on further interrogation that he wants a remit controlled train - one that "goes fast all by itself"!)

I feel like Santa should choose what to give the kids but he(she) should at least cough up one or two of the items on the list, but not all, and then some other stuff that's not on the list. (which, I'm happy to say, Santa solved our dilemma today by finding a GeoTrax RC train set at OUAC for $25!  Woot!)
