NBR - End of the Year Reading Goal (anyone?)

At the beginning of this year, I made a New Years resolution to read a ton of books. As you can imagine, having a horrible first trimester certainly de-railed this goal, but I'm working on squeezing in as many books as possible in the next couple of weeks. My goal is to finish all of the books that have come out this year in the series that I read. For the past year or two I've been really into the Sci-fi/paranormal/romance/horror genre. So here are the books that I've read so far this month (bolded) and the ones that I plan to read, and the series they're from:

Archangel's Blade by Nalini Singh (Guild Hunter)

New York to Dallas by JD Robb (In Death Series)

Spellbound by Kelley Armstrong (Women of the Otherworld)

Hit List by Laurell K Hamilton (Anita Blake Series)

One Grave at a Time by Jeaniene Frost (Night Huntress Series)

Another Kind of Dead by Kelly Meding (Dreg City Books)

Hunt the Moon by Karen Chance (Cassandra Palmer Series)

Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning (the last book in the MaKayla Lane Series)

The Neon Graveyard by Vicki Pettersson (Sign of the Zodiac Series)

The Deadliest Bite by Jennifer Rardin (Jaz Parks Series)

Death Magic by Eileen Wilks (World of the Lupi)

Drink Deep by Chloe Neill (Chicagoland Vampire Series)

Red Mist by Patricia Cornwell (Kay Scarpetta Series)

Kill Alex Cross by James Patterson (Alex Cross Series)

At this point in the pregnancy I'm also not able to do much so I spend the majority of my days on the couch. Does anyone read these authors/series? Or does anyone else have a list of books they want to try and read before the end of the year?

  • I really want to get around to reading Unfamiliar Fishes by Sarah Vowell...I've had it on my Kindle for weeks and haven't had a chance to start. I actually finished my reading list for this year (it's way too long to post), so I guess I need to start on one for 2012. Gotta get as many books in as I can before the world ends, after all.

  • You are very ambitious. I take forever to read books so I don't think I could ever do that! I am a fan of classic lit so this year.... I forced myself to try Jane Austen... I read Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice. I hated them both so I'm done with her. :/ I can appreciate her as an author... she's just NMS. Anywho... I also wanted to accomplish my long time goal of actually getting through an entire Charles Dickens novel so I bought a book that contained five of them... me and Dickens have issues similar to me and Austen.... I didn't get through any of them so I give up on him too. SO..... I went back to some of my favorites to restore my faith in classic lit and I re-read Crime and Punishment, Dracula, and Frankenstein. Next year, I'm going to try to read Dante's Inferno and some new Shakespeare....

  • What a list! I love to read, but I got off track with all of my goals after my 1st trimester. That was a dark and lowly time in life-smh. Anyhow, I haven't read any of those on your list. I do like Nora Roberts, but I've never read her stuff under JD Robb. I'm a fan of James Patterson, but only for listening. Don't ask why, but for some reason I just like his audio books, but I won't actually read them. At this point, I've turned into a lazy slob. I could probably get in quite a bit of reading by the end of the year. Anyone in an online book club? I was in a really good one when I lived in NC, I recently moved and hadn't been able to find one in my new area so I thought I may try online...

  • I haven't heard of many of the authors - besides James Patterson.  I might have to look into some of them though cuz I like that same genre.

My reading goal is to read about half of the books currently on my Kindle - right now I have 70 books.  Some are short stories and some are regular length, but I definately have too many unread ones.

  • I have a ton of paperbacks that I got on paperback swap taking up room on the bookshelf in the room that will be the nursery.  I want to read as many as I can before baby comes so I can trade them back or donate them to our local library to free up some space.  They are mostly chick lit or historical fiction.  I have a Kindle too, but these books are taking up physical space, the ones on my Kindle can chill for a little.

  • I read the Hunger Games and loved them. 3 books and an easy read if you haven't read them. I finished them in 3 days. I've also heard good things about the Maze Runner series

  • Ugh. I get so frustrated when I think about my reading goal for 2011. Last year, I set a goal of 30 books and blew past it with over 50, so I decided to up the ante this year and make my goal 75. Well, three months of being so sick I could barely keep my eyes open and I'm WAY behind. Goodreads says I've read 31 books in 2011 so far. Pretty pitiful.

I'd like to try to get to 50 by the end of the year but I don't see that happening. I'm currently reading Game of Thrones and I'm only halfway through. It's taking me a lot longer to read than normal so this will probably be the last book for me for 2011.

  • I have a book goal on Goodreads. I was suppose to read 75 this year. I'm currently 6 short. I don't think I'm going to make it. I might get 2 more read but not 6.
