Well here I am again...
Last time I posted I got jumped on by a few ladies here but I am back. I hope to get support and help from this board.
So here goes...
I got my paperwork from the courts and J is the father of LO (duh already knew this) and we have a court date on Jan 12 to over payment and all that stuff. It says I can bring a lawyer if I want. Do you have a lawyer? I am not sure what the father is going to want or do...he has not seen LO or even talked to me sence he found out I was pregnant this time last year. I am freaking out and just not sure what is going to happen at this hearing. Any words of advice would be great...TIA
Re: back again.
I am going through a divorce so yes, I absolutely have a lawyer.
In my eyes, if you are involved with custody battles in court over children. You should definitely have a lawyer.
It doesn't help you too much to not know what your child's father will be asking for. Is there any way for you to find out? I'd contact an attorney for at least a free consultation and go from there. They are very helpful.
I've never used a lawyer for CS court. You can have one but you really don't need one for this. You make sure you bring ALL of your documentation. 6 months of pay stubs, last tax filing, receipt/invoices for daycare, child's medical bills, insurance payments. The more information you have the better prepared you are.
Also I keep everything in a file, and any correspondence I've had w/ CS enforcement, all judgements, all go in there.
