DH had the meeting with the director and VP today. They want him there and did not say no to the conditions. So, that is good. Now, they are looking into the actual expense of what our conditions are and will decide from there.
The biggest hurdle is going to be housing. We are asking for them to pay for housing and it turns out right now Sydney is the most expensive place in housing in the world right now- more then NYC and London. ACK! We have done a bit of looking around and some of the suburbs aren't too bad if we down size quite a bit. (which we totally would)
They are suppose to meet again on Thursday. (hopefully with some numbers to look at)
Oh- and more good news. His boss asked him today how long he thought he would have his family with him during his temp trip there, 2-3 months. So, it looks like there is a possibility that we might be able to go over atleast for a visit during his trip in Jan.
I'm still thinking it won't happen, but holy crap this is getting so real!
Re: Another update
The Jan trip is a done deal- well the tickets haven't been bought, but they say he is definitely going then. We didn't think us going with him then was a possibility- so no idea on that. He is going to look into it this week. He was surprised that she even asked.
The other stuff I have no idea. Right now it is a series of meeting and so far he has not been told no. It is all going to come down to the $$$. If they can get the amount approved- big corporation so his bosses aren't the ones who would actually be approving it, it has to go through all kinds of red tape. I'm hoping we have an actual answer, besides not no soon. ETA- by Christmas would be awesome, but I'm not holding be breath.
Wow, so exciting! Australia is awesome--DH and I had contemplated living there pre-kiddos. This would be a fabulous experience for your family!
:-D
If they approved partial housing costs, like 50/50 or something like that, would you go?
The January trip is a done deal for your DH, but what is the timeline for a move for the whole family? Any idea?

Congratulations--this is all very exciting!
If International House Hunters is accurate, then Sydney is expensive. From what I have seen, housing anywhere in Australia is pretty high.
This. Yay!!
I've missed a lot!
Australia would be super cool. I have friends there (even in Sydney) and can ask them for tips for you guys!
Lots of luck!
