crazy prego brain~ losing toys in stores

DH just called me b/c he and DD are out running errands and were supposed to be home 15 mns ago.  He wanted to let me know they were ok but the reason he has been delayed is b/c DD brought her Ariel doll to the store with them (despite me saying, "are you sure you want to take Ariel?  What if you lose her?"), and DD put Ariel down for a nap somewhere (aka left her on a display somewhere in the store) and threw a fit when she couldn't remember where Ariel took her nap.  Apparently they spent 20 mns or so casing the store trying to find Ariel with no luck.

The crazy part?  I'm actually sad.  I like all of the Ariel stuff  and loved The Little Mermaid as a kid so it's something that DD and I share.  I'm trying to not think about this little loss b/c I know things get lost, broken, etc, but it just makes me so upset that 1.she lost it 2. DH wasn't paying more attention (like I do when we bring a toy to the store) and she got lost.

So it's silly, but I'm sad that Ariel is lost at the store :(   Not to mention I just bleached her this morning along with several other toys so she was really clean! Lol.

ETA: Another crazy thing?  I feel so strongly about this lost that I started this thread on TB about something that doesn't really matter!

    I'm sorry.

     

    We have a strict NO toys out of the car policy. I sometimes let the kids bring a book or stuffed animal or car but that's it. My car gets so much crap in it.

    lol that's exactly how i am!  We have some books and a few stuffed animals in the car and that is it!  and a sippy cup.  But otherwise we've had things lost and it's always a BIG DEAL. 

    Of course DH "felt bad" when she whined about not bringing Ariel along.  Now he feels ten times worse.  Although I suggested we not replace her for a while b/c it's a lesson to learn that sometimes things get lost! And maybe she won't be as adament that toys come with us!

    But it's certainly been the topic of conversation between DD and I.  She keeps mentioning how we have to go back to the store and get Ariel!
