What was your LO's nickname before you knew what you were having, and why?

We have been consistent with calling our baby 'Carlos', especially because we still do not know what we are having - by choice. As soon as a couple of our friends found out we were expecting they named our LO 'Carlos' after the baby on The Hangover and its stuck ever since. Some people probably think it's stupid but we get a kick out of it and so do fans of the movie.

We weren't very unique..... we called her "Peanut" or "Baby". Now we call her Willow, baby girly.... and occasionally when she practices her Chuck Norris roundhouse kicks to my ribs... I'll call her a brat

We call him Honeydew. Long story: DD is a Watermelon (after we brought one to a party at my uncle's house and he shoved it under his shirt to impersonate my then pregnant belly, and the nn stuck), so this baby was Honeydew from the beginning. We know it's a boy, but have no name yet, so we call him Honeydew or baby boy. DD has picked it up (most likely from my uncle too) and now tells anybody who'll listen that her little brother's name is Honeydew.

Our very close friends who have 3 always called their babies "Rufus" before they knew the gender, so we did the same. It was a fun way for his wife and I to bond while we were pregnant together the last 6 months. I'm a FTM and she had her third - and she claims final - on Friday night. A fast, healthy, uncomplicated delivery and she was home by Sunday mid day. Hoping it rubs off!

We are having a girl though, so not sticking with "Rufus", although her husband insists it is a gender neutral name!

Tomato. It just...happened. I didn't want to call him "Peanut" or "Nugget" or "Bean". DH was snacking on a tomato at the time and it just manifested as a nickname.

BF will occasionally refer to him as Ben since that will more than likely be his name, but I can't do it yet. He's my Dewey Baby.

I occasionally called him "the fetus"...sorta feel bad about that one!

I called him "mommy's little monster" lots too as well as the name we had chosen for a boy. I knew he was a boy the whole time.

Roar!

I don't know why, but DD was there when we had out u/s to find out the gender. We immediately looked at DD and said "You're going to be a sister! What should we name her?" She immediately said "Roar!"

I'm a little worried that this one will forever be Roar....

We started out calling her the Little Fish, since my husband was excited to welcome another Pisces into the house, but once she started moving and thrashing around, she became the Leviathan.

I sort of called it "eggie" but not really. With K, we jokingly referred to him as Englebert Dweezel because that was our fake name. When people asked what we were going to name him, that's what we said since we weren't sharing name. We figured any name we came up with after that would be gladly welcomed.

baby, scooter, ninja, sweet pea, or I referred to baby as whatever fruit or vegetable was on the bump that week

Now since we know its a girl, girly whatever strikes me as funny at that moment

Kungfu Baby. The second time we saw her on ultrasound she literally looked like she was kickboxing, so the name came and stuck. Now we usually call her by her name, but we still do at times refer to her a Kungfu, lol.

We called him Banjo. Once we found out he was a boy we started trying out some really names. We currently have one that might have made the cut so we are calling him that right now.

We've been calling him Gozer (from Ghostbusters). We started with that around week 5 or so and it just kinda stuck. We figured it was gender neutral (Gozer can take whatever form, therefore worked for a boy or girl) and also thought "The Destructor" would be a great nickname for a toddler lol!

We have also, unoriginally, called him Baby lastname, but more often Gozer.

At first we called her "Sea Monkey" because to me that's what a baby looks like for the first bit of pregnancy. But then it evolved into "Gummybear" and that stuck. We're keeping her name a secret so when we talk about her to other people we still call her Gummybear but when we're alone we call her by her name

DD1"s nickname was Pele b/c she was incredibly active and liked kick me in the ribs.

DD2 was B.B. for Baby Bed and later it ended up being her initials

We referred to the boys as just "the twins", until we knew that they were boys, then switched over to calling them "the boys" - incredibly original LOL

We call her "Little Tiger" and still do. It was a nickname my older brother came up with when he emailed me about being pregnant.

DH's family isn't allowed to know until Little Tiger's born, so in that circle of family and friends, baby is still "Little Tiger" and "unknown" as to whether we're having a boy or girl. FiL does not want to know until baby's born, and someone has to respect his wishes at some point because God knows MiL never will and pregnant SiL (6 weeks ahead of me) spilled the beans on their kid, too.

JR. we started calling LO that when i first found out that i was pregnant. Lucky for SO and myself LO turned out to be a boy so he is still our little JR.

You guys have some cute nn's! I don't think I had one before I knew she was a girl, but now I tend to call her Molly Bean since she has no middle name yet... I'm a little worried she's going to end up with Bean as a mn! lol
