What does your Xmas dinner menu look like? We're staying in town and flying solo, so I don't have to stick to the same old menu my family insists on having. Inspire me!
We go to my dad and he grills steaks - irregardless of weather. I love it. I'm not a turkey fan and it's so much easier. We have all kinds of yummy sides and it's so fun and relaxing. Totally non-traditional. Oh - and our non-traditional tradition on Christmas Eve is fajitas.
Since I'm still holding out hope that I'll be chained to the couch nursing a baby, we've told our family that anyone who wants to can come to our house, but we're not cooking, they can feel free to bring whatever food they want. We have a spiral ham in the freezer, that we might remember to thaw if they're lucky. And yesterday I whipped up a batch of pumpkin dip to go with the ginormous tin of ginger cookies we bought at World Market, telling DH that it will be our "go to" offering for anyone who wants to visit after baby is born.
And, if baby's not born yet, I'll be royally pissed off and in no mood to cook either, so either way, people will be sh!t out of luck if they want any food from me besides ham, ginger cookies and pumpkin dip. So there.
We pretty much do the same as Thanksgiving but my brother also smokes a brisket.
So it's the standard -- turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, stuffing, a few types of veggies/misc casseroles, and brisket.
For dessert we usually have a couple kinds of pies and my mom makes this dessert that we all drool over -- it's basically this pudding/peppermint dessert.
I do an herbed rib roast for Christmas dinner. When it's just us, I just get 2 ribs, and that's plenty, even for leftovers. Usually with a salad and these roasted potatoes. And DH usually requests some sort of trifle for dessert.
DH makes a prime rib roast and we get a honey baked ham every year. Past years I have made roasted butternut squash, spinach gratin, and green beans and a salad as the sides. But, I'm thinking of changing some things up this year. I've seen some great looking recipes on pinterest!

Christmas eve is usually tamales and sides and Christmas day is the traditional T-day stuff.
