Re-posted from 3rd Trimester:
Hi ladies,
My husband's parents are divorced and both remarried. Both mother-in-law and step mother-in-law want to be called Nana. Step mother-in-law has a grand-daughter who already calls her Nana. Mother-in-law wants to be called Nana because her brother called her Nan as a childhood nickname.
Anyone have any suggestions as to how to handle this? I am thinking I might suggest that Mother-in-law go by Nan instead of Nana, but I still think that might be confusing for LO.
TIA!

MIL wants to be called "TeTe" like her mom was. DH is opposed to this but doesn't have the guts to tell her. I laugh because growing up that's what we called pee in my family :P
Also did this.
Oy, I just know that if LO starts calling my MIL "Big Granny" that is not going to go over well for me.
This is how it is done in my extended family:
Nana Leah - my mom's mom
Nana Julie - SIL's mom
Then some of my cousins kids have started with Noni (for one grandma) and Nannie (for the other grandma)...but everyone just generally turns their head to see who is wanting who's attention.
My DD calls my mom Nanny. Maybe you could use that for one of them. I also like the previous poster's suggestion of Nana first name.
My DD calls my step-dad Pop-Pop as well as my grandpa and it has never been a problem. Traditionally both sets of grandparents are called "grandma and grandpa" so I don't see a problem with them sharing a "name".
