My husband is considering a job change which would move us to the Houston/CHannelview area. I have been told to avoid Channelview for housing but where would you recommend? I have 15mo old twins and would like to, obviously, be somewhere safe, with parks and things close. I also would love recommendations for a pediatrician, gyno, general docs and dentists please. I'm very nervous about moving, I still live 5 minutes from my parents here in FL, so any help you can give would be great. Thanks for any insight you can offer!
Re: Maybe moving to the East Houston Area, any tips??
Can he commute at all? There are so many great places to live in the Houston metro area with good schools....all depends on how much he can/is willing to drive.
Congrats on your babies.
I keep dreaming about having another set of multiples and it's freaking me out. Ha.
Yes, but hopefully not more than 20 minutes or so. I have been looking online but it's hard to tell about the neighborhoods. The real estate agent isn't going to photograph anything unpleasant. Congrats on your twins as well, they are so cute. I keep thinking about another set too. I am secretly hoping that will be the case but either way I suppose
Go to the Houston forum on city-data and try searching the forum (there's a link right under the page numbers on top-ish right)

You might be able to find some mentions of the neighborhoods you are looking at. I would also consider branching out from the 20 minute commute. My husband has a 20 minute commute to downtown and we aren't that far away. Commuting from somewhere more central or southeast out to channelview would not be much different from commuting from Katy out west into downtown. Something many many many people do every day!
You may have to come in west a little bit for good housing/neighborhood options, but you can still stay along the Beltway/Tollway for a not-so-bad commute. You could look a little north - say Kingwood - which is around 59 and Beltway, or you could look more south - say Pasadena or East Pearland, which is around 45S and Beltway. It might be a slightly longer commute than 20 mintues, but would give you more neighborhood options.
ETA: Another option is going further East - places like Mont Belvieu have good neighborhoods/schools. The commute for your DH's work would be ok, but you would be further from Houston - so just depends on if you want to stay close to Houston or not.
Ditto. We live very close to all of these neighborhoods and you would be in Humble ISD which is a a good school district.
Another option with a good school district is Deer Park but the area in Humble is much prettier.
This. Summerwood, etc., are in the Atascocita area. Kingwood/Humble/Atascocita are pretty much one big area. Summerwood would be a GREAT option for you. It's right there at Beltway 8 so really easy for your DH's commute (just get an EZ Tag for the tolls) but there are lots of great kid-things around for you plus a nice grocery store, close schools that are good, etc.
