Pregnant after a Loss

Impacted?? May be tmi.

I am having serious issues not being able to "go".  I have tried every thing, I've been taking stool softeners and eating a ton of fiber.  I even made a prune juice smoothie last night with miralax.  Nothing.

I have a regular appointment on Friday but I'm trying to decide if I should call before then.  It's going on a week now and I'm starting to be in a lot of pain.

What has worked for you guys?  In know this has been an issue for others.   Would you call or wait until friday?  I just dont want to risk an infection or anything.

Re: Impacted?? May be tmi.

  • Have you tried the suppository stool softener? ?I used to eat fiber one bars like they were going out of style. I also ate a lot of apples & apple sauce.?

I would increase your fruit & veg intake. Maybe eat something greasy. Greasy always worked for me too. Like mcd's.

I don't know what your comfort level is, but a beer may help as well.

HTH & hope you go soon & get some relief. ?

  • That's one area I've never had a problem with.  If you're in pain, I'd call and see if they can offer you some info.  Good luck.
  • I would call your doc if you are in a lot of pain.  You could always try a fleets enema too if you are desperate.  I know that sounds gross, but it works.

  • I would call.  I got permission to use a suppository bc I thought I was going to die it was so bad!
  • Apples, corn and watermelon have been my lifesavers.  Grease or something really sugary will work sometimes in a pinch too.

I had steamed dumplings and a peice of Red Velvet cake the other day for lunch and it worked a little too well.Embarrassed

  • I just had an issue like yours recently. I didn't have problems like this until third tri. Prune juice was helping me and then it wasn't. I took colace and it took a few days but then it worked. Call your dr to see if there is something more intense you could do. Drink a ton of water and I felt like olive oil kinda helped so maybe a tomato & cucumber salad with some olive oil, salt & pepper?  Try walking too. I can't do much of that being on bedrest but I tried to move around more and that helped.
  • I finally had success last night (after 8 days) with milk of magnesium.  It worked within about 4 hours.  Good luck!
